Lesson 5/Activity 5 .1 What is your Digital Workflow? In Other Words, What is your Plan?
Data Driven Journalism = process
Summary: In gathering information, identifying people involved may help in the research. Who was critical in drawing the nation’s attention to this matter? Who identifies with the issue today that should be investigated as well. Researching people may give greater context for the subject allowing for more thoroughly integrated, richer discussion.
Benchmark:
11.7.7.7 - Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.
Learning Target:
I can conduct research on people and parallel events of significance in order to understand if society is capable of conquering such issues or not.
Essential Question:
Is what happened in the past destined to repeat itself?
STEP 1:
Using your chosen research question as the main focus , review the researching and citing sources skills you learned in Activity 4. Find multiple, varied, valid sources to answer your research question.
STEP 3
Take notes from your sources.
Follow the guidelines in the link Taking Notes[2]
STEP 4:
Create a Works Cited entry for each of your sources. Use MLA format.
If unsure of how to do this, see EasyBib [3]for reminders or directions.
STEP 5:
Use a structuring tool to organize your information. It could be a graphic organizer, an outline, etc. Have a plan for your digital presentation on a Google doc.
STEP 6:
Submit your notes, plan and correctly-cited sources to your instructor for review.
