Cultures & Traditions Night – Cultural Ambassador Guide

Thank you for helping make our Cultures & Traditions Night a fun and meaningful experience for our students! Below are some helpful guidelines for Cultural Ambassadors.

  1. How do I sign up to host a table and represent a location?

Sign up using the Google Sheet.

If you’d like to collaborate with another family OR more than one family signs up to represent the same place — no problem! Simply add your name and email, and someone from the Events Committee will contact you to help get the planning started.

  1. What kinds of things should I include at my table?

We’d love this event to be interactive and fun for kids. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Display Ideas

  • A tri-fold poster board with information about your location:
  • Map or photos
  • Population
  • Languages spoken
  • Traditions or celebrations
  • Fun facts

Hands-On Activities

  • Simple crafts (examples:)
  • Beaded bracelets
  • Paper fans
  • Coloring rangoli designs
  • Traditional patterns or symbols

Food Samples

  • Small tastes of traditional foods or drinks
    Please keep all foods nut-free

Interactive activities are especially encouraged — kids love learning by doing!

  1. Do I have to represent a country?

Not at all! You can represent any place you feel connected to.

Examples:

  • Growing up in New York City
  • Life on a farm in rural Ohio
  • A town where your family lived
  • A place you studied or traveled

Our goal is to spark curiosity and appreciation for different ways of life.

  1. Do I have to be from the place I represent?

No! You are welcome to share any place that is meaningful to you.

Maybe:

  • Your family has roots there
  • You lived there for a time
  • You studied abroad
  • It’s a place you love visiting

If you have a connection and want to share it, we welcome your participation!

  1. What if I don’t want to host a table but still want to participate?

Please add your name to the Google Sheet!

If there is enough interest, we hope to include a Music, Dance, and Story Corner, where volunteers can:

  • Demonstrate how to play an instrument
  • Teach a simple dance
  • Read a story aloud in another language

  1. Are supplies or funds available?

Yes! The PTA will provide:

  • Tablecloths
  • Tri-fold poster boards
  • Basic craft supplies for use

If you have additional supply questions, please email: melgasper@gmail.com
