Intro

Hey so, I’m Mar (They/He). I created this document so I could get all the texts I’ve read/been wanting to read + organizing them. Idk if this goes well, I probably shared it for educational purposes. It’s going to be separated by topic, and all of them will be free since I personally can’t afford books like that. I’ll also link reading guides too!

I’ll definitely be adding my own commentary or summaries about each of these as I read them (for my own sake but IDK maybe you’ll find it somewhat useful)

Have a comment, question, or request?

Lesbianism/Comp Het

Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence - Adrienne Rich (read)

So my deal with Adrienne Rich is that I simply do not like her transmisogynistic ass, and that should be noted. The only reason I would ever refer someone to, or recommend this article is to get an understanding of Comphet not being a Lesbian only experience despite lesbians experiencing it in a unique way. Adrienne borrows from Materialist feminism in the discussion of comphet. Otherwise...fuck Adrienne Rich, read the articles below that further expand on comphet as a phenomenon non-men experience.

Stone Butch Blues - Leslie Feinburg (read)

(CW//police violence, sexual assault) Usually, it is a recommended book to further explain the existence of he/him or they/them lesbians and it definitely does serve that purpose but there are quite a few sexual assault scenes as well as a rape scene so… look out for that. I didn’t get a trigger warning before reading so here is yours.

woman: a coercive political project imposed upon society to concretize patriarchy and enable class oppression - @lycheelesbian (read)

towards the demystification of compulsory heterosexuality: a general theory - @lycheelesbian (read)

towards the demystification of compulsory heterosexuality: on lesbianism - @lycheelesbian(read)

Marxism

📯☻♬Dialectical and Historical Materialism - Stalin (read)

A very short read but extremely informative and understandable analysis of materialism. Definitely eye-opening.

☻♬What is Marxism about?  (read)

If you know little to nothing about Marxism, this is an excellent resource as it breaks everything down. Although I may have my criticisms regarding certain sections (lack of discussion of colonialism and how it impacts culture, gender, and sexuality), I do believe this is a good start.
