Alex

Alex, from the former USSR and previously under ICE custody at Essex County Jail, then at Krome Processing Center in Miami, recently transferred to Louisiana on June 1st, started a hunger strike on March 11 and a water strike on March 14 to demand his freedom.

Alex has no country of origin to return to if deported.

He is far from his family and home in Florida. He is almost 60 years old and has a host of medical issues, including high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. He could lose his vision at any moment, and states his vision is already getting blurry. Despite deciding to drink water again, on 3/26/21, he was put on suicide watch (i.e. solitary confinement) and denied water and medication. They had stripped off his clothes and moved him to be watched. On 3/31/21, his ex-wife reported that he was beaten by the guards twice, taken to the hospital, then transferred to Krome in Miami. Then on 6/1/21, he was transferred to Louisiana. Take action today to demand his freedom.

Marvin Ventura Reyes

Marvin, from El Salvador, currently at Krome Service Processing Center in Miami, began his hunger strike on March 7th. He migrated to the US in 1998 after witnessing the violent killings of his father and brother. He was detained by ICE in November 2019 and first held at Essex County Jail before being transferred to Bergen County Jail, where he went on his first hunger strike. In retaliation, he was transferred to Krome in Miami, where he is on his second hunger strike.

He is hospitalized and must be released now before his health further deteriorates. Take action to demand his freedom today!

Script: Officer [name], please release Mr. Marvin Ventura Reyes now. His A# is 094-241-183 and he is now on his 27th day of hunger striking at the Krome Service Processing Center. He is currently hospitalized, while ICE continues to ignore him, his lawyer, and family. Mr. Reyes is a longtime New Jersey resident and asylum seekers. Deporting him puts him at risk of death. Please stop criminalizing his past and substance use. Mr. Reyes had access barriers to professionals who could help him address the trauma after witnessing the horrifying killings of his father and brother. He has a strong and loving family and belongs to a community of people who are committed to see him thrive. He should finish adjudicating his immigration case from home with the company of his loving sisters and access to community resources.

Wilson Peña Lojo

Wilson Lojo Peña, from Guatemala, currently detained at Buffalo Detention Center in Batavia, NY, has been wrongly held in ICE custody for over two years during which he has sustained abuse and injury. He has been striking for his freedom since March 4th and will not stop until he is free. Take action today!

Script: Wilson Peña Lojo has now been on hunger strike for over 100 days at the Buffalo Detention Center in New York. He was recently in the infirmary and his health is in serious danger. Previously he has sustained excessive abuse by ICE, so between that and the COVID-19 outbreak, he would rather risk his health and strike for his freedom than spend another day in ICE custody.

A few weeks ago, Wilson said: “Today in the morning I was to the point of dying because I fainted and the guards had to hold me against a wall. From there they transferred me to the infirmary and I have a lot of [illnesses]. I have chronic hyperthyroidism, gastritis. I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. For these reasons I am conducting a hunger strike. The abuses I have suffered in ICE are excessive.”

Wilson, A# 087-392-768, must be released to his family in Long Island as he waits for the resolution of his amnesty case. ICE has kept him from his two young sons for far too long.

Arckange Saint Ford

Arckange is from Haiti and he started his hunger strike on March 20th.

Arckange has a loving family in NJ. He is risking his health to be free and with them. While in ICE custody both his physical and emotional health have deteriorated.

He was previously held at Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ, but has since been transferred to an ICE detention facility in Louisiana.

Malik Falls

Malik from Senegal and a US Resident began his hunger strike March 24

Malik has faced both anti-Black racism by ICE and other forms of repression including being denied water. He maintains that there is no reason for him to be in ICE custody as he does not have a removal order. He is valued member of the Jersey City food community as a chef who was featured on Chopped.

Marvin Jerezano Pena

Marvin, from Mexico, currently at Bergen County Jail, has been detained since December 2019. He was grabbed by ICE directly outside court when his probation was dismissed, confirming a pattern of concerted detainment of folks by NJ courts and ICE. Earlier this year, Marvin was punished and placed in disciplinary unit after one of the guards didn't follow protocol.

Marvin has a two-year-old son, a mother, and a community who needs him. He is currently scheduled to be deported on Tuesday, June 8th. Take action now to demand his freedom!
