Guido and Anna Cardillo, natives of Spigno Saturnia, Italy immigrated to Pittsburgh

in 1956.  A large community of Spignesi was already established in the region, so it was possible for Guido and Anna to come to a community of family and friends, and begin new lives as Americans.  Guido began the Cardillo Landscaping Company in 1958, and successfully expanded his business into neighborhoods such as Fox Chapel and the North Hills by starting out offering his services door to door.  Guido and Anna raised their 3 children, Lucy, Wanda and Luigi, in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Highland Park, where the couple still lives today.  Guido and Anna remain active in the Spigno Saturnia Community in Pittsburgh, and are extremely proud of their heritage - they maintain close ties with Italy, traveling back to visit every couple years.  Nevertheless, Guido and Anna are proud to call themselves Americans, and are grateful for the opportunity this country has given them and the success they have achieved here.
