Table of Weights and Measures
For those persons who have neither scales nor weights

1 lb of wheat flour = 1 quart
1 lb. 2 oz of Indian meal = 1 quart
1 lb butter when soft = 1 quart
1 lb of broken loaf sugar, broken up = 1 quart
1 lb 1 oz powdered loaf sugar = 1 quart
1 lb 1 oz best brown sugar = 1 quart
10 eggs = 1 pound
1 tablespoon = 1 oz
16 large tablespoonfuls = ½ pint
8 large tablespoonfuls = 1 gill
4 large tablespoonfuls = ½ gill
12 drops thin liquid = 1 tsp
1 gallon = 8 pints
1 pint = 16 oz
1 oz = 8 drachms
A common tumbler = ½ pint or 8 oz
A common wineglass (not a modern wineglass) = ½ gill or 4 large tablespoons
4 wineglasses (not a modern wineglass) = ½ pint or
8 oz Common teacup = 6 oz
Dry Measure Half a gallon = ¼ peck
One gallo n = ½ peck
Two gallon = one peck
Four gallons = half a bushel
Eight gallons = one bushel
