Netplay Guide For Smash 64 (By: E2xD)

Resources Needed:

35 MB of space.
Project 64kVE: (I provided 3 different links just in case one breaks)

Rom of Smash 64 (We can’t link it.).

For Mac Users:

You will also need these additional 2 Programs.

The Unarchiver: It’s free on the App Store. Download this first as it lets you extract RAR and ZIP files
Winebottler: download the correct version depending on what OS you have. Yosemite users will need the development version but everyone else should probably use the stable build.

Setting Up:

For Windows:

Extract Project 64kVE and place it anywhere. Place the rom in the Project 64kVE>Roms. http://prntscr.com/5q6sfk.

Make sure you chose the correct ROM directory in File>Choose ROM directory: http://prntscr.com/5skesr

For Mac:

Open up the Wine .dmg file you get once you download winebottler. Drag both the wine and winebottler icons into the applications folder.: http://imgur.com/XbXgubH

Extract Project 64kVE and place it anywhere. Place the rom in the Project 64kVE>Roms. http://prntscr.com/5q6sfk

To start Project 64 right click on the .exe file and click open with Wine: http://imgur.com/p0IvaOm

When you first run Project 64 it it’s going to ask you if you want to make a bundle or not. Select the option to NOT make a bundle and check “Do Not Ask Again”

Make sure you chose the correct ROM directory in File>Choose ROM directory: http://prntscr.com/5skesr

To find the right folder click on the “/” Directory in the screen shot, then go to users>your username> then wherever you extracted the project64 folder>Roms: http://i.imgur.com/N6P098R.png

For All:

Launch Project64kVE.exe. (You may recieve an Error, don’t worry about it, just continue. It will be fixed). Go to Options > Settings.

Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6,
Azimer's Audio v0.30, Jabo’s Driect Sound 1.6
N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.83

Make sure you have all the proper plugins selected and click OK.

Go to Options > Configure Controller Plugin. Set up your controller or keyboard however you like. Then go to the "Controller Pak" tab and uncheck "RawData". Click Save.

Included are two Presets on how I set up the GC Controller (One for L or R Shielding). In Options> Configure Crontroller Plugin, hit Load Profile and you should see to presets (make sure you change input device so it will recognize your device): http://prntscr.com/5r2tll

To Netplay (Server):

Go to File>Start Netplay

Enter Your Username
Connection Type is set to LAN
Change Mode Set to 2-Client
Add a New Server:

Name: Smash FU [New York]

IP: 104.131.44.48:27888

Name: Smash FU [Chicago]

IP: 199.16.13.11:27888

For the Host:

Hit the Create Game Button: http://prntscr.com/5r2dr4
Select Super Smash Bros (U): http://prntscr.com/5r2dz9

From here, you can kick people out who randomly join your game, and control who enters your room.
