The children will learn the meaning of neighborhood and explore the different things that are found  in a neighborhood. 

What buildings do we find in a neighborhood?

 

  1. Ask the children if they live in a house or a building.
  2. Read aloud “My Neighborhood.”
  3. Ask: What places does the author mentions in from his neighborhood?
  4. Display a neighborhood map.
  5. Discuss neighborhood.
  6. Have the children answer the following questions: What do the cartons and boxes in the model stand for? What buildings are in this neighborhood? What do people do in a neighborhood? How do people in a neighborhood get from place to place?
  7. Have the children identify some of the ways in which people go from place to place within the neighborhood.
