Lecture goals

The objective for this course is to provide a description of instrumental methods and techniques using photonics and applied to health. During this course, students will be exposed only to instrumental aspects allowing the measurement of optical parameters used for health, in particular sources, detectors, basic methods for acquisition.

Detailed outline

The course is composed of the following lectures:

1- Introduction :  origin of optical contrast for health

2- Instrumentation basics : sources and detectors

3- Instrumental techniques for microscopy

4- Instrumental techniques for spectroscopy

5- Instrumental techniques for fluorescence

6- Instrumental techniques for imaging

7- Instrumental techniques for optical coherence tomography

Applications

Examples, software or hardware demos, visits, ...

Acquired skills

Following this course, the student will have gained knowledge in optical contrast, methods and instrumentation for photonics applied to health.
