Weighing 57 lbs, Bingo walks great on leash, shows signs of housebreaking, has a mellow energy level and has a sweet and caring disposition. He enjoys spending time with other dogs, but he prefers to spend most of his time with humans. Bingo is the perfect dog to watch a movie on the couch with; he’s pretty much a couch potato! New! A4331312 Angel  | Chihuahua

A4331312 Angel is a spritely 5-year-old male blonde and cream Chihuahua mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on June 12th  because his owner surrendered him. Weighing 8 lbs, Angel is a little cuddle bug who is very affectionate, sweet and would love nothing more than to wait for you to get home from work for a belly rub and a snuggle. He is pretty easy to handle, meaning he has great leash manners and is also very comfortable being carried. When introduced to a new dog, he was calm and respectful, which makes us believe he would be great in a multi-dog home. Overall, Angel is a well rounded little guy who would make a wonderful addition to your household.

Urgent! A5024922 Bruno | Pit Bull/Rottweiler

A5024922 Bruno is a dapper 3-year-old black-and-white neutered male Pit Bull and Rottweiler mix whose former owner left him at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on  February 18th for no known reason. Weighing 51 lbs, Bruno is a cooperative and attentive dog who knows how to walk on leash and seems to be housebroken. He is sporty enough to join you on walks, hikes, or runs, but also strikes us as a dog who will appreciate a good nap. Bruno is eager to be close to and bond with his human. He loves to lay his handsome, blocky head on your lap and be pet. Bruno has done well with confident female dogs in the shelter’s playgroups; he’s only met one male dog and they didn’t hit it off, so for now, we’re recommending he be a solo dog or paired with a female. Bruno is a true head-turner with his stunning black face and white contrast body. He will be an immensely loyal best friend in the lucky forever home that makes him part of the family.

New! A5054667 Chamoy | Chihuahua/Pug Puppy

A5054667 Chamoy is an adventurous 8-month-old black and cream male Pug/Chihuahua puppy mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as an owner surrender because they were moving on June 11th. Weighing 12 lbs, Chamoy is a little guy with a big personality. He is interested in everything going on around him, jumping, running around and standing on his hind legs for attention! He would do best in an active home with a lot of exercise and walks to get some of that energy out! He needs a little leash training, he should be in a harness while he’s still learning.  We think he will do best in a home with another dog to give him a role model. Chamoy also has the “retro” pug look, he has an adorable little underbite. He will flourish in a home with an owner who is willing to work with him on basic leash training and ensure he gets the proper exercise he needs.

New! A5054669 Chaco | Chihuahua Puppy

A5054669 Chaco is a loving 8-month-old male black Chihuahua puppy     who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as an owner surrender because they were moving on June 11th. Weighing 17 lbs, Chaco is just the sweetest love bug who loves other dogs, loves people, and is overall just a perfect little guy. The perfect day for Chaco would be going on a nice walk, and then coming home to a couch where he could be veg out in front of the TV like the good little couch potato he is. He’ll flourish in a home with a balance of moderate exercise and ample resting time. Being he is so good with other dogs, it would be great if he could be adopted with one of  his friends (kennel mates) but definitely not a requirement.

Urgent! A5139336 Roxy | Rottweiler

A5139336 Roxy is a stunning 5-year-old black-and-rust spayed female Rottweiler who was surrendered by her owner for no known reason to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on February 1st. Weighing 77 lbs, Roxy is a gorgeous girl with Disney princess eyes. She likes to have a little time to get to know new people and is recommended for a quiet adult home or with older kids who are dog savvy and patient. Roxy likes people but gets overly excited and vocal with other dogs so she is required to be the only dog in the home at least until her family gets to know her and she becomes comfy in her new home.  In the noisy shelter environment, she is on alert and easily startled so our volunteers recommend a calm home. Roxy walks okay on leash and will benefit from regular exercise to keep her happy and centered.  She’s sure to turn heads when walking through the neighborhood. She also would benefit from training and will learn what she needs to know with lots of positive reinforcement.

Urgent! A5202925 Olive | Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever Puppy

A5202925 Olive is a perfect 1-year-old black spayed female Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever puppy whose former owner left her at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on July 23rd for no known reason. Weighing 81 lbs, Olive is a happy, wiggly girl with a playful attitude. She loves to play with squeaky toys and chase balls. We think she would enjoy a forever home with plenty of things for her to play with and where she can join you on daily walks. Olive seems to have been someone’s loved gal as she is quite chubby and needs to lose around 10 lbs to achieve a healthy weight. Olive doesn’t seem to have had much training yet, but she loves treats (and for many dogs, healthy snacks like carrots or apples are great treats!).  She listens well which makes us think she will learn quickly. Olive sailed through her shelter-administered temperament test. She likes other dogs, as long as they are not too pushy or rambunctious, so we think she’d do great with a calm dog in her new home or as a solo dog. Olive is ready to give you some serious love and major laughs and will be an awesome best friend to anyone seeking an active larger dog.

Urgent! A5223077 Xochitl  | German Shepherd

A5223077 Xochitl is a brilliant 3-year-old black-and-tan spayed female German Shepherd who was found as a stray and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on March 1st. Weighing 62 lbs, Xochitl has the smarts and focus that make German Shepherds such a popular breed. In the noisy shelter, she is a bit nervous, but she cooperates fully with volunteers and staff, she relaxes if you give her a nice massage on her head. She walks well on leash and knows how to sit on request. Given her intelligence and athleticism, she will need a home that provides her with both physical and mental activity. Xochitl is calm around other dogs, but doesn’t really want them in her personal space; while her new family gets to know her, she should be the only dog in the home. Xochitl is a special girl who will be a deeply loyal best friend in a committed forever home, ideally one with breed experience.

Urgent! A5232922 Blippo | Pit Bull/Pointer

A5232922 Blippo is a dashing 2-year-old black-and-white neutered male Pit Bull and Pointer mix brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from Palmdale on October 31st. Weighing 69 lbs, Blippo is as handsome as they come, with a glossy coat and one soft ear held up rakishly. Volunteers describe him as “insanely smart” - in addition to perfect leash manners and housebreaking, he already knows “sit” and “down.” We bet he’d pick up new skills in a flash, given how responsive he is to direction and his truly impressive focus. This self-assured dog prefers order to chaos and has a tendency to act like a “hall monitor” in playgroup, breaking up other dogs’ skirmishes. Due to his large, athletic build, staff think that Blippo would do best with children aged 8 and older and large dogs. He would love a home that can give him plenty of mental stimulation to channel his hunter’s instincts and will reward his owners with intelligent companionship and lots of gentle, attentive licks.

Urgent! A5236250 Jeremiah | Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever

A5236250 Jeremiah is a peppy 2-year-old black-and-white neutered male Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on November 12th as a stray from Baldwin Park. Weighing 58 lbs, Jeremiah is a lovable boy who savors human company and relishes cuddling. He also is a sporty fellow who would be an ideal companion for walks, hikes, or other adventures. Jeremiah knows how to walk on a leash and how to sit on command, but would benefit from some additional basic obedience training to help him truly shine. He interacts appropriately with other dogs with a relaxed, friendly demeanor, and we think would do well especially if paired with a female dog in his new home. He passed his shelter-administered temperament test with flying colors. With his adorably expressive face, Jeremiah is also a great listener. Jeremiah will be a fantastic best friend in an active forever home excited to add a wonderful personality to the family.

Urgent! A5238395 Donnie | Pit Bull/Boxer

A5238395 Donnie is a gentlemanly 3-year-old black-and-white neutered male Pit Bull and Boxer mix brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from Baldwin Park on November 20th. Weighing 62 lbs, Donnie has the refined temperament and tuxedoed good looks of an old Hollywood movie star. He comes out of his kennel calmly despite the noise and stress of the shelter and walks perfectly on leash. Donnie basks in human attention and loves treats and scratches behind the ears. He very much enjoyed posing for his video and photos and likes to show off his “sit” command for treats. He gets along well with other dogs, especially female dogs, and we think he would also make a good family dog. With athletic energy and old-fashioned good manners, Donnie is the consummate leading man looking to be the star of his own home.

Urgent! A5239309 Wally | German Shepherd

A5239309 Wally is a goofy 3-year-old black-and-tan neutered male German Shepherd brought in to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray on January 1st. Weighing 71 lbs, Wally is a loving leaner who gets along really well with people and large dogs. He loves petting and is a joy to touch, with his luxuriously thick, fluffy coat and velvety ears. He has an alert energy and gets distracted around other dogs, but responds well to correction. Wally shows signs of being housebroken and already knows “sit.” We think that  socialization and training will really help to polish his natural intelligence and energy. Staff agree that Wally would do well with kids. This gentleman giant will be the perfect fit for an active home that can give him plenty of affection, physical and mental stimulation.

Urgent! A5241678 Marla | Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull

A5241678 Marla is an absolutely fantastic 2-year-old black-and-white spayed female Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull mix who came in to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from Walnut on December 6, 2018. Weighing 56 lbs, Marla is a total people person. When we had her out she went up to everyone she could find for attention and petting. She was easy to get out of her kennel - waiting patiently for her handler. She has a medium level of energy and is ok on leash, though might use a little bit more training. Marla was just as happy to stand around curiously looking at everything around her while her handler chatted with others, as she was to walk around and sniff everything. She seems to have had a rough life prior to landing at the shelter and is pretty overwhelmed by the environment so we would love to get her out as soon as possible. It is also pretty amazing that she’s so calm and friendly given her circumstances. Marla will need an athletic owner as she’s young and pit bulls need lots of exercise - whether walking or hiking or whatever it is you like to do outdoors. She needs to be the only dog in her household and would be great around middle school aged kids or older, if someone with a family would like to bring her home and maker her theirs. She’d also be great with other households as long as the children are not too young (given her size, age and energy level). Marla is just one of those all around terrific dogs. She was super popular with the volunteers, so we kept her out quite a bit longer than usual since we all wanted to socialize with her and found her so wonderful to be with. We know she’d make a terrific indoor dog and is patiently waiting for you to come take her home and make her part of your family.

Weighing 63 lbs, Tidus has a beautiful soft coat and is a born athlete. He shows signs of housebreaking, has a mellow and curious disposition, knows some commands, and could use some extra training on leash. He is great with other people and dogs of all sizes.  Tidus would be a perfect family dog. He is affectionate and lives for kisses and cuddles! Tidus is a gorgeous dog who will be a fantastic indoor pet and companion for any family or individual.

Weighing 58 lbs, Lulu is a playful, happy girl who savors human attention, especially in the form of belly rubs. She is playful and silly, and would be a great fit for an active home where she will join you for walks, hikes, games of fetch, or other activities. Lulu walks fine on leash and seems to be housebroken. She is happy to meet other dogs and we expect would do well in a multi-dog household with proper integration. Lulu is an all-around A+ pooch and will be a loving best friend in any forever home.

Urgent! A5249006 Selena | Pit Bull

A5249006 Selena is a fun-loving 5-year-old toffee-with-white spayed female Pit Bull mix (probably with a good splash of Lab) who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on January 11th as a stray. Weighing about 57 lbs, Selena is a fun and happy girl with a can-do attitude. She is people-focused and is an excellent listener. At the shelter, Selena has shown herself to be quite the retriever and she loves to chase balls, especially if they squeak. She is a sporty gal who would be an excellent buddy to join you on walks or hikes. Because she’s pretty interested in other dogs and reactive to them in the shelter environment, Selena needs to be the only dog and be the queen of her castle, at least until her new family gets to know her and her preferences. Selena is a happy girl who will be a fantastic companion in an active household.

Urgent! A5252176 Dottie Hinson |                Pit Bull/Australian Cattle Dog

A5252176 Dottie Hinson is a smiley 2-year-old black-with-white female Pit Bull mix (we think she has a good splash of Australian Cattle Dog) who was found as a stray and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on January 26th. Weighing 62 lbs, Dottie has a happy, outgoing personality. Her tail wags non-stop when you talk with her, pet her, or give her any indicator of attention. We love how attentive and sweet she is, and know you will too! Her specialty is smooching. Dottie walks okay on leash and with a little polishing of her leash manners, will be a perfect companion to join you for daily walks. She already knows how to sit on command, and given how eager she is to please her human, we think she will learn new skills quickly with positive reinforcement training methods. Dottie has some barrier reactivity toward other dogs (which means she barks at other dogs in their kennels or through fences), but when she was out in our doggy playgroup, she did perfectly fine and accepted corrections from both female and male dogs when she was too pushy with them. We think she would do fine in a home with another medium to large dog provided her adopters follow all recommended protocols for integrating dogs (such as separate crate time). She has plenty of love to satisfy all your needs for a canine companion and would also be a great solo dog.

Urgent! A5253437 Mabel | Pit Bull

A5253437 Mabel is a serene 3-year-old toast and white spayed female Pit Bull who was found as a stray on February 1st and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. Weighing 65 lbs, Mabel is a content couch potato who is remarkably calm after being stuck in the shelter for a while,  She’s okay on leash, pulling a bit but responsive to correction.  A  little more training will help her understand just what you want from her. Mabel does seem to have housebreaking skills, yay! She’s recommended to be the queen of the castle as an only dog at least until she gets comfortable, and we think Mabel would enjoy hanging out with older kids or teens who would like a chill companion to lounge at their feet while they do homework or play video games.

Urgent! A5254329 Angelica | Pit Bull

A5254329 Angelica is a darling 6-year-old brindle-with-white spayed female Pit Bull mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on February 6th. Weighing approximately 60 lbs, Angelica has an adorable low-rider physique and a seriously cute face. She walks politely on leash and shows signs of being housebroken. Unfortunately, Angelica contracted kennel cough at the shelter that then turned into pneumonia, so she must exit the shelter ASAP. She should be a solo dog, at least until her rescue or adopter gets to know her preferences better (she is feeling so unwell right now at the shelter that it’s a little hard for us to tell what some of her normal behaviors might be). We hope a compassionate adopter or rescue will step up and give Angelica the second chance she deserves.

Urgent! A5260202 Lola | German Shepherd

A5260202 Lola is a stunning 5-year-old tan and black spayed female German Shepherd who was surrendered by her former owner to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on March 5th (we don’t know why). Weighing 63 lbs, Lola appears to be a purebred dog, and she has all the wonderful characteristics that make the breed so popular.  Smart and alert, Lola keeps eyes on everything going on around her and she is selective about which dogs she wants to befriend. For this reason, calm dogs are required if she’s in a home with more than one. In playgroup, she participates in the “gentle/dainty” group that suits her style. Lola’s needs for exercise and mental stimulation are not well served in the kennel environment, her athletic build would make her a perfect jogging or walking companion. She needs a person who will spend time training with her to improve her leash skills and also give her the basics so she understands her role and what’s expected.  Lola is a diamond in the rough who will be a devoted and happy member of the family once she is valued as an indoor dog and given the attention she deserves.

Urgent! A5260969 Skeeter | Pit Bull/American Bulldog

Weighing 75 lbs, Skeeter drew a crowd among our volunteers as they all swarmed to pet and love on him. He savored the attention, doling out kisses and panting with a huge smile. Skeeter doesn’t seem to have had much training yet, but he is eager to please and responds  well to positive reinforcement. His favorite activities include cuddling, going for walks, cuddling, kissing people, and cuddling...Oh, did we mention he loves to cuddle? Skeeter is dog selective and should be the king of his own castle, at least while his new family gets to know him. Skeeter is guaranteed to fill his forever home with tons of love and laughter.

Urgent! A5262120 Ms. Brisby | Pit Bull

A5262120 Ms. Brisby is a centered 2-year-old golden and white spayed female Pit Bull mix who was found as a stray and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on March 19th. Weighing 65 lbs, Ms. Brisby is a helper dog at the shelter working with staff on assessments of new dogs, and while she’s great at her job she’s ready for a home of her own. Gentle and agreeable with people, Ms. Brisby is really a “dog’s dog” because she absolutely loves to hang out with other canines. Though she needs a few minutes to warm up to new people, she quickly comes out of her shell and becomes more confident with dogs so we think she would be an amazing second dog in a home with a buddy. Her preferred play style is “push pull” and Ms. Brisby will be a loyal and loving member of any household where she can relax and enjoy life.

Urgent! A5267896 Gripp | German Shepherd

A5267896 Gripp is a handsome 5-year-old black and tan male German Shepherd found as a stray and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on April 5th. Weighing 76 lbs, Gripp is smart and loyal, typical of his breed.  He is eager to get into a home where he is well cared for. He needs to gain at least five pounds and will benefit from some good nutrition to feel his best. Gripp shows signs of housebreaking and is pretty good on leash though he could use some additional practice plus basic training. Alert and curious, Gripp will enjoy keeping an eye on things with daily walks around the neighborhood, he would love an active family that likes to get out for hikes and activities. He’s recommended for homes where any kids are older and can play with him and participate in his training.  Gripp is  so eager to bond and please that he’s likely to be a good candidate for agility or advanced training to occupy his active mind. The shelter is distracting for him, though he’s tolerant of other dogs. We think Gripp will gladly relax and unwind once he’s in a home where he is valued as an indoor dog and member of the family.

Weighing 59 lbs, Ivy has beautiful silky fur and friendly eyes. Her Pointer tail pops right up and has a cute white tip, and she has darling grey freckles on her nose and spots on her socks. She’s a hidden gem in the shelter because she is vocal in her kennel, appearing unfriendly, and then transforms into a calm agreeable sweetheart once she’s out. Ivy walks well on leash, has medium energy level, is non-reactive to other dogs, has a gentle disposition, and knows how to sit and handshake on command. Ivy is a smart and polite girl who will be a great new addition to any family willing to get past her kennel behavior and give her a chance.

Urgent! A5270797 Linda | Pit Bull/Dogo Argentino

A5270797 Linda is a sporty 2-year-old white spayed female Pit Bull and Dogo Argentino mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on April 15th after being found as a stray. Weighing 55 lbs, Linda is a bright athletic girl who really needs someone who will exercise her every day and let her chill and relax indoors afterwards as part of the family. Linda would be an ideal running partner once she’s had a little more practice and training on leash, and she would love an active family that likes to play outside. Our volunteers recommend an experienced big dog owner for Linda because her exuberance and strength require her handler to pay attention and be able to keep up with her.  Linda is curious about other dogs and pops into a play bow so she might be a good companion for another energetic big dog. She already knows sit and is ready to learn the rest of the basics. Our volunteers recommend middle school/teens and up so they can be part of the fun of playing and training with her. Affectionate and happy, Linda will be a fantastic companion once she’s getting positive reinforcement and encouragement from a person or family ready to make a lifetime commitment to a big dog with a big heart.

A5271671 Miss Bella is a personality-plus 7-year-old fawn spayed female Pit Bull who was surrendered by her prior owner for no known reason on April 18th to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. Weighing 65 lbs, Miss Bella was “Miss Congeniality” with our volunteers, who quickly fell in love with her sweet personality. Miss Bella likes all people and dogs, and plays very well with other dogs, popping into a play bow to start the fun and tolerating a variety of canine personalities. She shows signs of housebreaking and walks okay on leash, making her easy to handle for such a big girl.  Miss Bella loves to lay her head in your lap and get some attention, and we think her medium adult energy level will make her a good match in any home looking for a best friend and ready to welcome a valued indoor dog.

UHA Foster—Adopter Needed!

A4677808 Zuli | Pit Bull

My name is Zuli and I am looking for my forever home (hopefully around San Diego, where I am located!) I am about 18-months-old and I am a bluenose Pit Bull mix puppy. I am full of lots of puppy energy! I adore playing with other dogs and get very excited around playtime. I currently live with FIVE other doggies who are my best friends, and I am currently being trained how to control my energy level. When I go to my new home, I will need to continue to work with trainer so I can become the best canine citizen there is! I ride very well in the car and I am currently potty trained. I know how to listen to my foster mama and will only chew on appropriate toys. I walk very well on leash, and I also know many commands! I know "sit," "wait," "down," "leave it," "stay," and "easy." I also know "shake" and "roll over" (both ways!). I get along very well with older children and can respect younger children, but I probably shouldn't live with them since I might accidentally knock them over with my energy and enthusiasm.

Weighing 70 lbs, Hardy is a friendly boy who greets everyone with a wagging tail. Plus, he politely asks for attention by extending his paw gently. Hardy walks well on leash and shows signs of being housebroken. He loves to run around in the shelter’s play area, for this reason, we think he would be happiest in a home where he has some outdoor space to enjoy. Hardy has some alopecia on his lower back that has been improving at the shelter; he should see a private veterinarian after adoption to continue his care. Hardy is an all-around wonderful dog who will be an amazing indoor companion in a forever home that loves German Shepherds.

Layla is looking for a new home. Her mom’s landlord is selling the house where they live, and when her mom moves, she cannot take Layla with her.

Layla is a gorgeous German Shepherd and Alaskan Husky mix.  She is approximately 5-years-old.

Her mom found this beauty wandering around, extremely emaciated and covered in fleas and ticks. She even had foxtails imbedded under her skin. She had very little fur left and what little she did have was very matted. That means Layla was probably on the streets a long time and had a rough life for a while. And even though she through so much -  wow, what a transformation! You can see how beautiful she is in the photos. And her personality matches that beauty

When her mom rescued her, at first Layla was very shy, but after being in a loving and safe home, Layla has made a complete turn-around.  She is friendly, loving and very eager to please.

Layla is an amazing family dog.  She is great with kids young and old. And she is also great with cats and other dogs.  She weighs 88 lbs. and all of her shots are up to date, with the exception of her rabies shot.  Layla is not spayed.  Like Xena, Layla is an indoor dog and is house trained. She loves her bed and hanging out with her people just as much as Xena does.

Layla is great on a leash and loves being groomed. You can even trim her nails and it doesn’t bother her at all.

Layla’s mom, Paula, is devastated at having to give her up since she is such an incredible dog, but with her landlord selling the house in which they all live, when she moves, Paula cannot take Layla with her.

Layla lives in Sanger, California, which is near Fresno.

If you’d like to adopt Layla, please contact Paula directly via facebook at https://www.facebook.com/paula.mallette.5

Bowie is a 2.5 year old Australian Shepherd mix rescue named after David Bowie because he has one blue eye and one brown eye.  He has been in his home since he was 8 weeks old. He has a lot of energy and loves to go for walks more than anything else in the world.  He does not like being left alone for a long time.  He enjoys playing fetch and chewing on his toys.  He barks only when someone is approaching the house. Bowie loves spending time outdoors and even just laying in the sun out in the yard.  He is very sweet, but takes a minute or two to feel comfortable around new people.  He would do best in a house rather than an apartment. His coat has minimal shedding and is in good health. Owner is surrendering due to old age and illness.
