19th February, 1925.

Dear [Mr W.P. Winchester]

I must first apologise for not having yet replied to your first letter, but I have lately been so very, very busy with work and other duties which have had to be attended to before I leave for three weeks holiday in the South of France, on Monday morning.[1]

I am sorry it has not been possible for me to execute, before leaving, any other portraits in connection with your Gallery, but I will do so on my return.

About the exhibition – I am still hesitating, and I do hope if I write to you from the South of France, when I shall have more time to go into the matter, that it will not be too late.

My address will be:

Hotel Costabelle,

Hyeres.

where any letter you write would find me.

Believe me,

SMDL
