Principal’s Corner

Hope everyone had a fabulous Spring Break!!  We are now in the home stretch to the end of the year.  There is a lot going on from field trips to state testing to open house.  Please check our Facebook page( https://www.facebook.com/SpringValleyElemSchool/?ref=bookmarks) and the school website (http://svs.chawanakee.k12.ca.us/) to see the events that are going on.  The district website also has the site calendar with all events for the year.

This quarter the Warrior Award character trait is Responsibility.  Responsibility is taking ownership of my thoughts, words, and actions. This trait is essential for becoming a healthy, happy, and productive person…and it is the basis for a free and civil society where each person does what he or she is expected to do.

State Academic testing is set to happen May 14th-25th.  Grades 3rd-8th will take assessments in English and Math.  5th and 8th grade will also take a Science assessment.  Please help us by making sure your child has plenty of rest, eats a good breakfast and is at school on time.  Testing will start in the morning, so please be prompt.  If your child does need to miss a day, make-up tests will happen the following week.

The end of the year is a crazy time and I know it can be hectic with all the school and your child’s different activities.  To be eligible to participate in the pool day you will need to have all of your accounts cleared up.  Please make sure all library books are turned in and if you are missing any books please pay the cost for replacement.  Also, check your child’s lunch balance and any balance for daycare. The school will be sending out overdue books and any balances in the middle of May, so be on the lookout.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sophia Kennedy, Sarah Wold, Taylor Wallis and Janine Alven for making it to the Slick Rock Video Premiere for their videos!  This is the first time any student from Spring Valley has submitted to the competition!!  We are very proud!!
