We are settling into the 3rd quarter beautifully. The transition to the new classes went seamlessly and all students and teachers are doing amazing.
This quarter the Warrior Award character trait is Honesty. Honesty refers to a facet of moral character and connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc. Honesty also involves being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere.
This quarter Spring Valley will start to enforce the district’s 95% student attendance policy. Students who have 10 or more absences will be given the option to make up an absence at Monday Night Class. This will be held from 2-5 p.m. on a specific Monday. Students who also accumulate 3 or more tardies will be given 1 make-up class, as well. Students will need to maintain the 95% attendance rate to participate in extracurricular activities, such as clubs, sports, graduation, and the end of the year swim parties to name a few. The school and district are committed to having your child in school as much as possible, but we understand that kids get sick and life happens. If your child has less than 9 absences for the year and less than 3 tardies you have nothing to worry about. There will be letters sent home in the next few days so be on the lookout. If you get a letter and have questions feel free to contact me anytime.
There are many different opportunities for students that are happening in the community. Here is a short list and we have attached the flyers for all.
1/19- 6th-8th grade dance hosted by Wasuma school from 6-8
1/20- 6th-8th grade dance hosted by Minarets High School
1/28- K-8 Cheer clinic hosted by Minarets Cheer
2/10- Valentine’s Fun Run at Coarsegold School
I have had a request to see if there are girls from 8-10 years old (as of Jan.1) to play softball with the Yosemite Girls Softball League. To have a Spring Valley Team there needs to be at least 9 girls and there would need to be a coach. The nice thing about having a team from Spring Valley is practice could be on site instead of practicing at another school site in the mountains. If you are interested please call the school office. I will keep a list and if there is enough interest I can turn it over to the league.
Boys’ Basketball/Girls’ Soccer
Soccer will practice Mondays from 1:45-2:45 & Wednesdays from 2:45-3:45
Practice for soccer will start on Wednesday Jan. 31
We are currently looking for a coach for Boys’ Basketball. Please call the office if you are interested in coaching.
