Cut open fruits and vegetables and count the seeds

Grow food scraps: carrot tops, potato eyes, scallion bottoms, onions, garlic

Dissect flowers, dig up plants to examine the roots

Examine pupils in the mirror with lights on/off

Observational drawings of twigs, shells, other natural objects

Collect rocks; rub them together, wash them in water

Observe weather patterns, clouds, temperature

Examine soil from different locations

Observe the stars at night

Track the phases of the moon

Engineering

Build the tallest/strongest tower out of blocks/paper/marshmallows and toothpicks

Design a solution for an everyday problem; build and test a prototype
