I worked at a hotel called Hardee's, where I wore the same uniform and had the same manager as in real life. Customers would get tent numbers and I would find and deliver food to them. Otherwise, everything was different. Most people who stayed in the hotel had a randomized roommate who simply stayed in the same room as them. Each room was connected to another by a bathroom, which spanned the space between them with a door on each end that could be locked by either side if needed. Customers were only allowed to stay in the hotel from Monday through Friday. It was also quite the tourist destination, because most people spent their entire vacation time in and around the building.
I was delivering food one day to the room that was connected to my room (tent #41). I entered and there was a girl (no apparent name, but I kept imagining her as a "Lucy") on a twin-sized bed with the #41 tent by her feet on a clothes dresser. She commented to me that she loved the idea of the tent numbers and delivery service. I told her that this was my last delivery of the day. Eventually, we got around to talking. She used to have cancer but was in remission, but still had very short, yet stylish, hair. We talked for hours and I showed her the knacks and interesting things throughout the room that she didn't know about yet. She told me that she had a male roommate named Devin, of whom I became incredibly jealous. While showing her around the room, I was teaching her how to use the vibration setting on a queen-sized bed in the room. It didn't seem to be working though. I got on the bed and reached down between the wall and pulled a switch and pushed the electrical socket into the wall outlet. The bed immediately started vibrating violently. I shut it off and told her she didn't need to use that. When I looked over at her, I realized that she had gotten on the bed too. Neither of us moved and just sort of looked at each other uncomfortably but we started talking again. I heard my roommate enter my room on the other side of the bathroom, turn off the lights, and go to sleep. We turned out the lights in her room too. A few minutes later, I heard my manager knock on the door. Lucy yelled that the door was unlocked and my manager came in and saw me on the bed with her.
"You know I can't let you stay there," my manager said to me.
"I know. I'm just talking with her," I replied back.
"Alright, well I'll give you a half hour to wrap things up."
She left and I continued to talk to Lucy. We realized however that we were both very tired. She opened a book and started reading. I dozed off just looking up at her. When I woke up, it was morning. I'd apparently spent the entire night with her on her own bed. My arm was outstretched and underneath her back. She was still sleeping. I felt really uncomfortable about the situation and decided the best thing to do would be to return to my room without waking her up. When I tried to slowly remove my arm, she stirred and awoke. She looked into my eyes and gave me the most powerfully cute smile I'd ever seen. Right then, I realized that I didn't know what day it was. I hoped it was nowhere near Friday, because that's when she would leave.
Friday did come however. Some customers as well as myself decided to help with an Easter egg hunt that would take place on the hotel lawn as well as into the street (traffic blocked out) and surrounding businesses. Devin, who never made an appearance until now, had built a treehouse for kids to go inside and find eggs. Lucy commented on how wonderful it looked and hugged Devin. I was getting heated quickly and to make matters worse, Lucy suggested that I go up into the treehouse to hide the eggs. I agreed just for her and climbed up. While I hid eggs, Lucy continued talking to Devin and laughing and hugging and whatnot. Devin invited her on a date to the hotel restaurant before they checked out. I felt that I would already not be seeing her again after she checked out and now Devin was using up all the time I had left. Lucy ran off to go help elsewhere and Devin knelt at the bottom of the tree to make more parts for the treehouse. In a combination of pent-up stress, blinding anger, and an ultimate hate for the guy below the tree, I snatched a pickaxe left in the treehouse and started destroying Devin's treehouse. I slashed the tarp used for the roof and tore up the walls and floors. Devin started screaming at me but I didn't care. I grabbed the Easter eggs I was supposed to be hiding and hurled them one by one out the door of the treehouse. They broke into their plastic halves and many pieces got lost. Devin was starting up the first steps up to the treehouse to try to stop me when Lucy ran up. She started screaming and swearing at me and I practically paralyzed in instant depression and ruin. Before I could react, my weight on the front of the treehouse which was already very damaged caused the structure to tip and fall from the tree. I blacked out when I hit the ground.
I awoke on a cot that had been set up outside. The Easter egg hunt had to be cancelled because of me so everyone decided to have a barbecue instead. I sheepishly walked towards the barbecue and Lucy just stared at me from a distance. I bent down and started picking up Easter egg pieces. Some people had already tried to do so leaving many eggs mismatched with halves of incorrect colors. I filled a basket with correctly matched Easter eggs and walked over to Lucy. I offered her the basket and set it down on the table she was at. She smiled and then started laughing. I apologized and we made amends. I returned to her room that night to help her pack. We said goodbye and I offered to exchange contact information. All I remember is her face as she smiled and me and then I woke up.
