Information on the strike -
“This will be my last post until 1/28. I will also not be active on tiktok at this time, besides responding to DMs. I urge all of you that care about Palestine to participate in this as well! There is a global strike from 1/21-1/28 that I only just now heard of, for palestine. The purpose of strikes is to shut down primary social and economic functions & in doing so communicate the people’s power. strikes are ESSENTIAL to governmental change. Even if the strike doesn’t ‘take off’, and only a few participate, you only need 3.5% of the population to participate in and speak out for change to create change. That's all. be a part of the 3.5%. people are losing their lives, and the least that you can do is go radio silent for a moment. I will unfollow people that view this post and still choose to post during this time. I also ask of you all to take a break from purchasing things and participating in the economy (as much as possible). I understand that some things, such as work, some can’t afford to give up, and that’s fair. over 25,000 Palestinians have died, and over 62,000 have been wounded in a (largely) one sided military ‘conflict’, which can’t even be called such. These numbers are likely higher due to lack of reporting and resources. Palestine has no official military. Israel has an extensive one and immense aid from the United states and other powers. These are real, human lives, being stolen. These people have family and friends. Many of them have no connection to hamas. The civilian death toll is nearly 100%. When will enough be enough? i know that people are seeing the posts about Palestine, the children suffering. people losing their families. I repost them, and many more do, too. if you would not want to be in their shoes, it should be common sense to do what you can to help these people. some day it might be you suffering, and would you want the world to watch silently? Israel does not want peace. Zionists want to destroy palestinian way of life and are comfortable doing so. There have been numerous accounts of zionist leaders, nearly saying as much outright. calling for genocide. If you're curious, look into South Africa's case in the ICJ. and please: contact your representatives and tell them why you are striking, call for a ceasefire and the freedom of Palestine, and take a break from social media for a few days. If you've been asking what you can do, then the answer is this. If you have any questions, then feel free to ask them in the comments, and I will answer. To add the limitations required for the strike to work are/were:
No posting, commenting, liking or reposting videos/on videos unrelated to Palestine. This drowns out all attempts to uplift their voice. What you've been asked to do is incredibly easy and doesn't take a lot of resolve to do. The terms were incredibly easy to follow and if you refused to partake, I’d suggest some self reflection. Those who ignored Palestine as a whole, many of us are disheartened to know your moral values.
