Program Lead Team Tips for Applying

Hello everyone! Thank you for applying to EMRA! Below is a list of resources that we think would help you with your application. We recently started this document and will continuously update through this recruitment cycle and the rest of the quarter. While some of these resources emphasize highlighting your skills, we also look for character qualities. Also remember that everyone has their own skill set, so make sure to share that in your application. There is no single correct way to apply; we value your uniqueness!  Please feel free to also use these links when applying to EMRA or any other organization on campus! Thank you!

Resume Resources

• It is important to note that while this sample resume has sections for Education, Certifications, Research Experience, Clinical Experience, Work Experience, Leadership Experience, and Community Involvement, these are not required to apply to EMRA. We know that there are applicants with a variety of experiences; we want to hear about the experiences and opportunities you have had in depth.

• This is a free resource that allows you to easily create resumes. It takes care formatting for you, and offers many different free templates/themes so you can focus on the content of your resume!

Written Application Resources

• This resource is for cover letters, however, we think some of the advice here is pertinent to how you should answer questions on our application!
• Additional Note: We suggest that you spend significant time reflecting on the experiences you choose to write about. Please evaluate how these experiences have shaped you as an individual. Take effort to display the parts of your personality that you appreciate the most; we want to hear about this! If you need further assistance with writing your application, please visit the UCLA undergraduate writing center. We’ve used this resource frequently and they are extremely helpful! • This is UCLA CPO’s writing success program which helps with a variety of written materials such as essays, personal statements, and resumes. WSP’s main goals are to ease writing anxiety, increase students’ confidence and develop the analytical skills necessary for students to be effective, persuasive communicators.
