[CURRENT] AI assisted Briefing Flow
[CURRENT] Daily Office Risk Brief MVP
A lightweight AI-assisted local situational awareness tool for office operations, security, EHS, and resilience teams
1. Project Overview
The Daily Office Risk Brief MVP is a lightweight situational awareness tool designed to help regional and site-level stakeholders understand local conditions that may affect office operations in Korea.
It collects selected public and official-source information, uses AI to organize relevant information into practical situation updates, and delivers the results through a Daily Brief email and a web-based Situation Board. The tool is intended to support, not replace, human review and operational decision-making.
2. Target Users
This tool is designed for stakeholders who need visibility into local office conditions but may not have the time, Korean-language capability, local familiarity, or dedicated monitoring resources to review multiple public sources every day.
Target users may include:
- Regional or Country Security Managers
- Office / Workplace / Facility / Operations Managers
- EHS / Health & Safety stakeholders
- Crisis Management / Resilience teams
- Site-level managers without a dedicated local monitoring function
3. Problem Statement
Local operational information in Korea is spread across multiple Korean-language news and public sources, making it difficult for regional or overseas stakeholders to maintain consistent awareness.
Even when information is available, it may not be immediately clear whether it is relevant to a specific office or requires operational follow-up.
This tool helps bridge that gap by consolidating local information into a more practical, office-focused view.
4. What the Tool Does
The MVP supports daily situational awareness for a configured office area.
It currently:
- Collects selected public news and official-source information
- Monitors key local conditions such as weather, transport, air quality, civil disruption, and safety
- Uses AI to group related information into meaningful situations and assess their office relevance
- Generates a scheduled English-language Daily Brief email
- Provides a web-based Situation Board with more detailed context and supporting information
- Periodically monitors official KMA weather alerts and sends controlled notifications when relevant
5. What the Tool Does Not Do
This MVP is designed as a situational awareness support tool. It does not:
- Replace official government warnings or emergency notification systems
- Replace crisis response procedures or human operational decision-making
- Automatically issue company-wide employee advisories or mass notifications
- Treat every public report or official notice as a confirmed office impact
- Use confidential company information or internal security data
- Guarantee detection of every local risk or emerging incident
6. Technical Structure
The MVP is built using a lightweight Google-based setup:
- Google Sheets for configuration and data storage
- Google Apps Script for data collection, automation, email delivery, and the web-based Situation Board
- AI-assisted processing for situation grouping and operational context
Users primarily interact with the tool through the Daily Brief email and Situation Board.
7. How It Works(Flow Chart)
8. Known Limitations
The MVP is currently under controlled operational testing. Its main limitations are:
- Source Dependency: The tool relies on public and official sources, so the quality, timeliness, and level of detail of the output depend on the information available from those sources.
- AI Interpretation: AI is used to organize and assess collected information, but its assessment is based only on the available source data and may not always reflect actual conditions on the ground.
- Pilot Scope: The current version is designed primarily for the Gangnam / Seoul office area and operates through scheduled monitoring rather than continuous real-time monitoring.
9. Current Status
The MVP is functional and currently under controlled operational testing with a limited group of recipients.
- Daily Brief : A Daily Brief email is generated and sent each morning at around 07:00 KST, providing a summary of the main situations identified from the latest available information.
- Situation Board : A web-based Situation Board is available for users who want to review more detail, including individual situations, supporting source information, and current official alerts.
- Weather Alert Monitoring: Official KMA weather alerts are checked periodically throughout the day, separately from the morning Daily Brief. When a new or relevant alert affecting the monitored area is identified, a separate Weather Alert email can be sent to the configured recipients.
- Pilot Scope: The current pilot is focused on the Gangnam / Seoul office area and is being distributed to a small group of users while the workflow and outputs are further tested and refined.

A lightweight local situational awareness tool for office operations, security, EHS, and resilience teams
1. Project Overview
The Daily Office Risk Brief MVP is a lightweight automation tool designed to help overseas, regional, or site-level managers quickly understand local risk signals that may affect office operations in Korea.
The purpose of this tool is not to automate real-time crisis response. Instead, it provides local situational awareness by collecting public news, official public data, and weather alert information, filtering for office relevance, and generating a short daily risk brief that can support human review and operational decision-making.
It is also intended to support organizations that may not have a dedicated security monitoring or risk intelligence function, but still need a simple and structured way to monitor local conditions that may affect office operations.
2. Target Users
This tool is designed for stakeholders who need visibility into local office risk conditions but may not have the time, language context, local familiarity, or dedicated monitoring resources to review multiple public sources every day.
Target users may include:
- Regional Security Managers
- Overseas-based country or office managers
- Workplace / Facility / Operations managers
- EHS / Health & Safety stakeholders
- Crisis management or resilience stakeholders
- Corporate Security support functions
- Site-level managers in organizations without a dedicated security monitoring team
3. Problem Statement
Overseas and regional managers may find it difficult to monitor Korean-language news, weather alerts, transport disruptions, air quality updates, civil disruption, and safety-related issues on a daily basis.
Even when public information is available, additional local context is often needed to determine whether an issue may actually affect office operations, employee commuting, scheduled events, workplace readiness, or employee safety considerations.
For organizations without a dedicated security monitoring or local risk intelligence function, this gap can make it harder to maintain consistent awareness of local conditions that may require attention.
4. What the Tool Does
The MVP is designed to support daily situational awareness for a specific office area.
It currently:
- Collects public news and official public data from selected sources
- Filters information based on office relevance and local operational context
- Categorizes information into Weather, Air Quality, Transport, Civil Disruption, Safety, and General
- Generates a scheduled Daily Office Risk Brief for human review
- Checks official weather alerts periodically for the configured office area
- Highlights items by monitoring priority to help users identify whether an issue may require attention or follow-up
- Maintains basic system records to support troubleshooting and testing
5. What the Tool Does Not Do
This MVP has clear limitations by design.
It does not:
- Replace a real-time crisis response system
- Replace human judgment or operational decision-making
- Automatically issue employee advisories or mass notifications without review
- Use confidential company information or internal security data
- Guarantee detection of all local risks or emerging incidents
- Cover all areas of Korea; the current pilot is configured for the Gangnam / Seoul office area
6. Technical Structure
The MVP is built using lightweight and accessible tools.
- Google Sheets acts as the configuration layer and lightweight database
- Google Apps Script handles data collection, filtering, briefing generation, weather alert polling, and email delivery
The current setup allows the workflow to be configured, tested, and adjusted without requiring a dedicated software platform.
7. How it works(Flow Chart)
This is a legacy version. Please refer to the [CURRENT] tab for the latest version

8. Known Limitations
The MVP is currently in testing and has the following limitations:
- Public APIs and RSS sources may be delayed, unavailable, or incomplete
- Scheduled automation may not run at the exact second or minute expected
- Current relevance filtering is primarily rule-based and may require further tuning
- AI-assisted summarization and impact assessment are planned as future enhancements
- Operational Priority is an internal monitoring level and is not an official KMA weather grade
- Human review is required before any operational decision, advisory, or wider distribution
9. Current Status
The MVP is currently functional and under operational testing.
Current status:
- Daily Brief generation: operational testing ongoing(Scheduled Daily Brief: 07:00–08:00 KST )
- Weather Alert Monitoring: enabled for log-only monitoring
- Email alerting: enabled for controlled testing
