Movement

Week 6

Movement, an innate need for children, is inextricably linked to learning. “Moving integrates and anchors new information into our neural networks. Every time we move in an organized…manner, full brain activation and integration occurs, and the door to learning opens.” - Carla Hannaford, Smart Moves: Why Learning is Not All in Our Head

Play is the most important thing in a child’s life.”

-Karen Miller, Ages and Stage and The Outside Play and Learning Book

Early childhood researchers and theorists agree that play is significant in the development of children physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. We don’t often think about how our children’s cognitive thought processes are developed through play.   Experts also agree that the best learning experiences are those that integrate the senses, learning domains, developmental needs and interests of the children.

The song In My Pocket combines two favorite activities of preschool-aged children:  1) pretend play and 2) collecting objects.

Preschool-aged children enjoy and thrive on pretend play!  Consider the areas of development explored during the In My Pocket activity this week:

HALLOWEEN DRESS-UP

It’s dress-up for Halloween time! Monday, October 27-Friday, October 31.

Feel free to bring Halloween snacks for post-class fun in Fellowship Hall.

We do have some kiddos with food allergies. Please check with your class before bringing a treat in.

HOME ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS

1)  Home Activity 6:  "I am a collector:  Look what I found!"

2) Continue to listen to your Class Music

This gives your child comfort and familiarity, which allows for growth & development in a new environment.

3)  Please try to arrive 10 minutes before class to allow time for a potty stop and transitioning.  Be prepared to enter a few minutes PRIOR to class time. There is a MARKED difference with children who enter together and have plenty of time for transitioning, and those who arrive as the class is about to begin or after it has begun.

4)  New to Kindermusik? Here are your First Class Documents

5)  Mark Your Calendars - 2025-2026:
