In this activity, you will write a eulogy for a historical figure who has contributed to the American political culture today.

Benchmark:

5.1.2.2.1: Identify historically significant people during the period of the American Revolution; explain how their actions contributed to the development of American political culture.

Who were the most significant people during the American Revolution and how did their actions help develop the American political culture?

To complete Activity 5.3 please follow the step below:

STEP 1:

Write a eulogy for an American Revolutionary. A eulogy is typically a speech given at a funeral to honor and the deceased. Write the eulogy as if you were a very close friend of theirs. Complete this outline before beginning:

Paragraph # 1: Introduce yourself by explaining how you knew the revolutionary (Make it believable. Think: historical fiction.). Use three words to honor the revolutionary.

Paragraph # 2: Review important events in the revolutionary’s life, especially actions during the American Revolution. Comment on those events.

Paragraph # 3: Explain how their actions have affected American political culture today. Include a quote from the revolutionary to support your point.

Paragraph # 4: Summarize your main points. Make your final statements.
