prediction

We think that putting glue on a magnet would stop the magnets being magnetic because

it will cover the magnetic bit so that it won’t stick.

instructions

1. Put glue on a rubber and  scrub it on the first magnet for 30 seconds.

2. Place the glued magnet onto another magnet.

3. Rinse the second magnet with boiling hot water for 30 seconds then stop rinsing.

4. Place the rinsed magnet onto another magnet and see if it is magnetic still.

5. Get a white board and colour the magnet for 30 seconds

6. Place it on another magnet which is magnetic and see if it is magnetic or not.

7. put the magnet with glue on a another magnet and see if it is still magnetic if it is magnetic that means it did not work.

8.Fainly get some metal wire and scrape the wire on the last magnet for 30 seconds.

 9. place it on the tenth magnet and it must work if it doesn’t work , INVESTIGATION

 FAILED!

fair testing

We will keep the demagnetizing time the same.

conclusion WS

Our prediction was correct because glue stopped the magnet from being magnetic. it happened because the glue covered the surface of the magnet completely. Changing the temperature or the colour of the magnet didn't work. Next time we might explore if covering the magnet with thick cream or fabric like felt or wool would change its properties.

Well done! You have worked well to create an investigation which includes all the sections required in a scientific investigation. Next time try to be more independent when recording your results and writing up your conclusion.
