About the role
Reporting to the Commercial Director and working day-to-day for the Training Business Manager, you will be part of the team that runs our training, events and commercial business.
You are likely to have a passion or strong interest in people, an understanding of human development and education and be a proven organiser and administrator.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to help support the development of people and new skills in a world first organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the commercial organisation to plan, manage and deliver excellent courses, brilliant events and outstanding customer experience driving people to come back again and again and recommend to others.
- Helping to create wonderful, imaginative experiences, with attention to detail that are beautifully organised and yet relaxed.
- Building courses and content that people want to learn from and pass on.
- The ODI is a relatively new organisation that is fast paced and growing, all team members need to be prepared to get stuck in and learn new skills. This will include supporting the work of all of the commercial team.
About you - you must have the technical skills, knowledge, experience and interpersonal skills that will enable you to deliver the following:
- Training and events administration and organisation including online and offline activities
- Managing our training space, including set-up, clearing away and catering
- Be the main contact point for enquiries, bookings and cancellations etc
- Liaising with key customers in the run up to and during events
- Working with customers and the ODI finance team to ensure customer invoice and payment is effectively and promptly managed
- Managing the timely and cost effective printing and publishing of materials including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers
- Welcoming people to our space and ensuring they experience a positive and professional service before, during and after their visit
- The administration of the postgraduate certificate and liaising with University of Southampton
- Internal point of communication for ODI activities
- Helping to promote and market our courses and events
- Work with the Training Manager to create new courses and learning activities
- Provide administration and other ad hoc support for the commercial team when required
Key requirements:
- Being an excellent communicator across all media, in person and on the phone, who loves working with people
- A love of learning
- Being an excellent organiser with attention to detail
- Experienced in event, training or education programming
- Being imaginative and creative - how can we excel at creating environments and experiences that put people in the right frame of mind?
- A strong sense of customer service
- Being interested in human development
- Having strong presentation (eg. PowerPoint, Keynote) and general office software skills
- Having an excitement for the possibilities of the Internet and all things digital
- Enjoys a busy environment
- Having the ability to think ahead and respond quickly when things don’t go quite to plan
- Able to demonstrate excellent written English
- A team player
- Willing to learn new skills and help develop the services we provide
Desirable:
- Project or event management experience
- Presenting and teaching experience
- Familiarity with Google Docs and collaborative documenting
- Marketing experience
- Use of social media in a professional context
- Well developed professional network
- Second language or working knowledge other languages
