Directions: Read the paragraph. Write an outline how to play Cricket.
Cricket is played on a large, oval-shaped field. IN the center of the field, two crickets ,consisting of three short stumps with two balls (sticks) across the tops, are set up twenty-two feet (6.7 m) apart. The bowler, or player who throws the ball, stands behind one wicket and overhandedly “bowls” the ball toward the opposite wicket, trying to knock off one of the balls. However, batsman of the opposing team stands near the wicket and tries not only to defend it, but also to hit the ball. If the batsman hits the ball, he and a companion batsman, who is positioned near the wicket where the bowler stood, try to score runs. They score runs by running to the opposite wickets before a member of the fielding team, which has eleven players throws the ball and knocks off a ball. The batsmen score a run each time they both safely reach the opposite wicket. As many as six runs may be scored from one hit. This bowling, batting and scoring process continues until men on the batting team made an “out.” Then the teams switch positions when both teams have made ten outs, one innings in length often last several days with some players at bat for many hours.
How to play
The library is full of many reading materials. These can be books, magazines, clippings and other references. One can make use of different resources in the library if he knows how to look for them.
Learning how to use the card catalog helps a lot. The card catalog is found in one corner of the library. It is made of small cabinets with many drawers. In modern libraries, the card catalog is no longer found in cabinets but in a computer. Anybody who needs a resource material looks for it through the user-friendly computer.
