Teaching as a Woman
.
Recent studies on gender bias in student evaluations have sparked lively discussion in the world of higher education.  What are the challenges of teaching as a woman? What role does an instructor's gender play in students' perception of the quality of instruction? Are there specific stereotypes of "the female teacher," and what happens if the instructor does not conform to them?  The goal of this workshop is to raise awareness about students' biases and expectations especially with respect to female teachers, but it will also consider gendered pedagogical stereotypes more generally. This workshop will feature a panel of women faculty members who will share their experiences.
