Arrival is between 8:50 and 9:15 a.m.. This allows students ample time to reach class and prepare for the day's work. Students should be in their classroom and ready for the day by 9:20 a.m. Students that enter their classroom after 9:20 a.m. will be counted tardy.
Students may arrive on campus NO EARLIER THAN 8:50 A.M. unless they are supervised by a parent OR are enrolled in the Early Arrival Program.
STUDENTS CAN NOT BE DROPPED OFF IN THE PARKING LOT OR THE BUS LOOP: CROSSING THE STREET POSES A SAFETY CONCERN FOR BOTH PEDESTRIANS AND DRIVERS.
When dropping off students in the carpool lane, please make sure your child IS READY to exit the car independently when you come to a complete stop. Students will open their own car door and should use the multi-purpose room to enter the building. Several HSES staff members will be present along the carpool line to ensure student safety and assist students when needed.
PLEASE REMAIN IN THE CARPOOL LINE UNTIL THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU LEAVES; DO NOT DRIVE AROUND CARS THAT ARE UNLOADING. ALSO, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING YOUR CELL PHONES DURING CARPOOL.
We encourage students to enter the building independently whenever possible. If you have a special need to accompany your child to the classroom, please park in the parking lot, not in the unloading area. DO NOT CROSS BETWEEN CARS THAT ARE UNLOADING. PLEASE CROSS AT THE CROSSWALK BY THE FLAGPOLES. A HSES staff member will be present at this crosswalk, with a stop sign, to ensure student and parent safety.
AFTERNOON DISMISSAL PROCEDURE
All students must have an assigned carpool number. Please help your child learn his/her carpool number. This will help immensely in getting your child to you in a timely manner. Please display the number in the front window, hanging from the rear view mirror of your car until you have picked up your carpooler(s). You will need to leave it there so the person at the road and the staff members at the front of the line, will be able to call out the number.
Please discuss some basic rules for carpool with your child. Your assistance in communicating expectations would be greatly appreciated.
* Students will come to the lunchroom without stopping along the way when he/she is dismissed.
* Students are to come in and have a seat with out playing and talking.
* There will be no talking for the first 15 minutes of carpool.
* When students hear their number they are to get up, exit through the cafeteria door, and head to their assigned color. Colors are painted on the sidewalk for the children to see. Example - the teacher may tell 43 to go to yellow. Staff members and safety patrol members will be present to load them in the cars.
