WHS Advanced Placement Agreement
In order to fulfill the program’s purpose, students should expect
rigorous, intense, collegiate level course work on a regular basis.

This may include:
• Independently managed projects
• Homework assignments
• Substantial reading
• Vocabulary mastery – terms and concepts
• Reading and interpreting primary and supplemental sources
• Frequent essays – formal and informal
• Independent research and oral presentations
• Tests and quizzes
• Mandatory summer assignments

Students enrolling in advanced placement course(s) should display:
• Maturity (an ability to work independently and follow through on long term assignments)
• Excellent study and research analysis skills
• An interest and desire to learn the subject in depth
• A strong desire to face the challenges of an advanced placement course
• Academic integrity

Students and parents understand that:
• AP classes are taught on a collegiate level
• While enrolled in the AP program, the student will accept the responsibility of all course requirements
• Students and parents have seen and agree with the guidelines for acceptance into and continuance with an AP class
• Students could be exempt from college freshman courses of the same curriculum. It will be the student’s responsibility to check with the college for specific information.
• College credits will depend on performance on the Educational Testing Services AP test next May and the policy of the college to which the student applies
• It is the students and parents responsibility to pay for the AP exam
