(Students will be informed of their acceptance into OWLs by the end of May and will learn who their mentees are by the end of July.)
MISSION: The Honors OWLs Program is the Lloyd International Honors College’s official mentoring program for incoming Honors students. The OWLs assist incoming students in their transition to UNCG and the Honors College. The OWLs represent and foster the sense of community among all Honors students no matter if they are in International, Disciplinary or Full Honors. The focus of the OWLs program is in the fall semester. Given this focus, the Honors College requests that students participating in OWLs be on campus in fall 2017.
OWLs Expectations and Responsibilities:
• Act as responsible and exemplary representatives of the Lloyd International Honors College and of UNCG• Assist with Honors Orientation if needed. Participation by OWLs is always welcome at this event.• Potentially assist your First Year OWLs with Honors Residence Hall move-in or minimally welcome your First Year OWLs to UNCG during move-in days• Attend one to two organizational meetings per semester• Meet with your First Year OWLs on a regular basis during the fall semester to assist them with the transition to UNCG and the Honors College• Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills• Commit yourself to honor the integrity of the University, the Honors College, and the Honors OWLs Program
