Volunteer with Global Classrooms DC
Established in 2003, Global Classrooms® DC (GCDC) is the flagship education program of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA). Through original global education curriculum and Model UN mini-simulations, GCDC helps prepare globally aware citizens, educates students grades 5-12 on international issues and the work of the United Nations, while strengthening key skills including public speaking, negotiation, and writing.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

1. CONFERENCE SUPPORT: Volunteer for our Model UN Conferences as a policy adviser, Model UN chair, or logistical support.

2. MODEL UN MENTORS: MUN Mentors are volunteers who are paired with GCDC classrooms (ranging from 5th-12th grade). Teachers may ask mentors to help with different GCDC components including: explaining Model UN procedure and research, guiding Model UN mini simulations, or speaking with the students about their personal experiences with MUN or international studies. The GCDC team is available to support volunteers with resources and ideas.

3. PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE: If you have never participated in Model UN and would like to visit the classroom, you can volunteer by sharing your experience working in the international affairs field with our students. Past speakers have talked about their time working overseas, experience in governmental or UN agencies, provided informational sessions on the UN Global Goals, and presentations on the UN and UNA-NCA.
