GCDC Model UN Professional Mentor Program

Global Classrooms® DC (GCDC) is the flagship program of UNA-NCA, and is part of a worldwide initiative of UNA-USA. We provide DC metropolitan area students with quality global education resources and events that build self-confidence, while developing skills such as conflict resolution, writing, negotiation, and public speaking. Through innovative GCDC curriculum, professional development for teachers, the Model UN Mentor program, and a volunteer program comprised of DC-area professionals, GCDC supports area youth in becoming active and responsible global citizens.

MUN Mentors are volunteers who are paired with GCDC classrooms (ranging from 5th-12th grade). Teachers may ask mentors to help with different GCDC components including: explaining Model UN procedure and research, guiding Model UN mini simulations, or speaking with the students about their personal experiences with MUN or international studies. The GCDC team is available to support volunteers with resources and ideas. Most teachers are looking for a volunteer to visit their class 1-3 times leading up to the Global Classrooms Spring Conference.
