SGA Senate and Finance Board Application 2012-2013
Job Description:

Senators share the responsibilities of fostering open communication with the student body, representing the student voice to different parts of the UMBC community, taking actions to improve our campus, and taking a stance on issues relating to any matters including, but not limited to, policies and practices at UMBC.

Finance Board Representatives share the responsibilities of communicating, processing and allocating funds to students organizations, and participating in SGA initiatives that deal with issues including, but not limited to, policies and practices at UMBC.

Senators and Finance Board Representatives are elected by students during the May election. However, due to vacancies, we are looking for enthusiastic students who will fill the three open positions ( 1 Senator and 2 Finance Board Representatives) for the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year.  We are also looking to hire a Senate Secretary and Finance Board Secretary.

Senators are required to:
                 Attend the Senate meetings at 5:30pm on Mondays (the meetings usually run for 3 hours)
                 Serve on university committees
                 Spend 5-6 hours/week to fulfill these and other responsibilities

Finance Board Representative are required to:
                Attend the Finance Board meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays (the meetings usually run for 4 hours)
                Inform student organizations of decisions made at the meeting
                Serve as a liaison between student organizations and the Finance Board

Secretary Positions:

Both the SGA Senate and Finance Board will need a secretary to take minutes during the meetings (2 positions are available, one for the Senate and one for the Finance Board).
-The Secretary will be responsible for attending the Senate/Finance Board weekly meeting.
-Take detailed notes of what happens at the meetings
-Compile and keep a record of the minutes in an organized manner
