    Deadline: Thursday, September 10, 2015

The President’s Commission for Women works to advance the study and consideration of issues that directly or indirectly concern women students, faculty, and staff on the UMBC campus. The Commission will specifically address issues of leadership and equal access to university resources and opportunities, among other topics. The Commission will also showcase the achievements of women on campus, and organizations that empower women. Voting Members are asked to participate in quarterly campus forums during the year. Each meeting will have a presentation on a set topic, which will be decided by PCW members. There will also be an open forum section of each meeting for PCW members and other attendees to bring up any current issues or concerns. As issues are brought up, PCW members will work to find the best ways to advocate for issues that are significantly affecting women on campus, utilizing the PCW as a collective voice. In addition to the forums, Commission members help and give support in the operations of the Commission via various sub-committees. Board members are appointed for two-year terms, with possibility of renewal. The PCW seeks to serve a diverse population of women, as well as supportive men and transgender community members. As a result, a diverse group of voting members is sought to assure that varying needs and interests are represented. DEADLINE: Thursday, September 10, 2015 For additional information, please contact Cindy Greenwood at cindyg@umbc.edu or 410-455-3881.
