Latino Studies Student Essay Competition 2013-14

The Latino Studies Program invites submissions for Best Essays on Latino Literature, Arts & Culture. Awards of $250 will be given for the best undergraduate and best graduate essays on any aspect of Latino expressive culture. Essays may be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Topics may include: literature, language, history, music, folklore, visual & performing arts, cinema, and journalism. Photo essays also will be considered. Open to all IU students.

    Instructions

    Undergraduate student essays should not exceed 3,000 words in length, including notes. Undergrads must share their essay with a professor or instructor, receive feedback, and revise before submitting. Graduate student essays should not exceed 5,000 words in length, including notes. No faculty sponsor necessary for grad students. All submissions should meet the following style format: double-spaced; 1-inch margins; paginated; 12-point font; MLA, APA, or Chicago citation style. Submit in Word or PDF format as an email attachment to; latino@indiana.edu.
