"Rural Literacy Education in New China, 1949-1956" (Presented in Mandarin Chinese)

Abstract: The rural literacy education in the 1950s was the peak period for the development of literacy education in China. Based on archives, press materials and oral histories, this study discusses literacy education organization, teaching materials, teachers, and the learning psychology and behavior of rural learners in the 1950s. Through the above contents, this study assesses the learning experience of and impact of state efforts on farmers.
