Change Up For The Good: Fostering Healthy Choices In The School Food Environment

Healthy kids are happy kids! When kids have equitable access to healthy food throughout their school day, and are able to make choices to support a healthy lifestyle, our community has the ability to thrive. Our goal is to foster healthy school environments through empowering youth and partners while engaging in city and school policy, in order to make the healthy choice the easy choice! Over this year the Central Coast School Food Alliance is working with United Way of Santa Cruz County and Jovenes SANOS with other regional partners in improving our school food environments.

Please join us for a gathering to discuss our children’s food environments in Santa Cruz County in and out of school. We invite you to participate in the discussion about creating healthier school environments, policies, and commitments. We ask you to share your insights and ideas in this innovative space as we work together to improve our community. Attendees will walk away with new tools, insights, and resources toward addressing both state and federal competitive food policy that began in January and goes into full effect by July 1st, 2014.
