MISSION STATEMENT:
The Social Sciences Dean’s Ambassadors Council was established in the spring of 2001 with the objective to unite the various disciplines under the School of Social Sciences. The Council’s overall mission is to serve the School of Social Sciences, UCI, and the community at large.

With a student population of over 6,000, the Council seeks to create a sense of community and bridge the gap between students and faculty. The council promotes School pride by hosting quarterly social events such as Fall Festival and Dean’s Day BBQ, to name a few. Ambassadors are responsible for developing an academic community within the School of Social Sciences by creating and implementing academic events/programs such as Hot Topics Debate and Academic Feud. Ambassadors also have the honor of hosting visiting dignitaries and speakers at School-related events.

Additionally, the Council seeks to enrich the community at large through philanthropic efforts such as volunteering for local food banks, collecting school supplies for underrepresented students, and assisting at local grade schools and senior centers.

The Council meetings take place on Monday evenings, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!

REQUIREMENTS:
1. An unofficial transcript from the Registrar to verify a minimum 3.0 incoming GPA.(will be turned in at your interview)

2. Contact information for two references.

3. An essay (less than 600 words, font size 12, double spaced) discussing, in three separate paragraphs:

• Why you would like to be on the Social Sciences Dean’s Ambassadors Council

• Your qualifications for the Council (include previous leadership roles)

• Your vision/ideas for the Council’s activities.

DEADLINE:
Completed application must be submitted by 11:59 PM Friday October 6th, 2017.

NOTE:
Select candidates will be interviewed during Weeks 2 & 3. If selected for an interview, you will be contacted regarding scheduling.
