13th Annual Engineering Head Shave Sign-Up
On Wednesday November 23rd, 2016 the Engineering Students' Society at the University of Alberta will be hosting their 13th annual Head Shave event in association with the Alberta Cancer foundation. Through one way or another, cancer continues to shape our society and impact our friends and family. Starting in 2004 with the Wincentowich Brothers, the ESS has been committed to the Head Shave initiative and has raised $393,000 towards cancer research in the process. Anyone can volunteer to participate in Engineering Head Shave and help us reach our goal of raising $15,000 for the initiative this year.
Individuals seeking participation in the event have numerous ways to get involved!:
1) Participants have the option to dye their hair pink the week prior to the event and shave their head on November 23rd in-front of fellow students and news media.
2) Participants have the option to only shave their head if they do not want to dye their hair pink the week before. These individuals will also get their head shaved on November 23rd.
3) Participants also have the opportunity to exclusively dye their hair for the initiative.
4) If you do not want to be involved with the head shave aspect of the event but still want to raise awareness for cancer research, the ESS will be selling blue gears from the Geer Store starting on October 26th. These gears have a minimum donation price of $2 and will give individuals the opportunity to voice what/who they are supporting with their donation. The gears will be hung on the wall in the ETLC Atrium during the week.
Lastly, please stop by the ETLC Solarium on Wednesday, November 23rd 2016 from 10am to 3pm to support your fellow peers and help raise awareness for cancer research in Alberta!
