HTC launched its HTC One M8 phone this morning. Like the original, the new HTC One has an aluminum body with front-facing speakers. The five-inch screen is slightly bigger than the original, and the corners of the phone are rounder. It also has two cameras on the back. In other words, all the rumors about it were true. In other HTC news this morning, the company announced that its Blinkfeed home-screen interface would become available to non-HTC Android phones on the Google Play store. http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/8/4196446/htc-one-att-lte-review

Q: In your review today, you asked in the headline: “The best Android phone yet?” Well? Is it?

Q: Why two cameras?

Q: The single most unusual feature of this phone is that the front facing “selfie” camera is higher resolution than the back.

Q: The company claims a 40% battery life improvement.

Q: Were they any surprises in this announcement? What did they announce that wasn’t rumored?

Q: HTC partnered with Fitbit for this launch, and preloaded Fitbit software on the phone. How will users be able to use these apps?

* Extra camera allows you to readjust the focus after a picture is taken

* Is 4MP sensor and the front has a 5MP one. Yes, that's right—the front camera has a higher pixel count than the back.

* Back camera uses HTC's "ultrapixel" technology, which trades off megapixel count for larger, more light-absorbing pixels.

* Reduction in hardware buttons

* 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 801

* Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, a 2600mAh battery

* HTC also confirmed this morning that a Google Play Edition of the HTC One called the Play Edition M8.

* The Play Edition M8 is expected to be close to “stock” Android without Blinkfeed or other HTC interface elements.

* Disclosed it accidentally. The confirmation came in the form of an app description in HTC software posted to Google Play

* The company also posted “The HTC Service Pack

* The two-camera system is called the "Duo" camera

The University of Southern California is offering a course on using Google Glass in journalism. http://class.glassjournalism.io/syllabus/J499GlassJournalism-Hernandez-Fa14.pdfhttp://mashable.com/2014/03/25/usc-google-glass-journalism/

.

Joining us to tell us about the course is the man who’s teaching it, Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Robert Hernandez.

Q: So tell us what’s involved in your Google Glass for journalism course. What will you be teaching?

Q: The class is also about the consumption of journalism, isn’t it? Glass is an extremely constrained interface. You can’t really watch long videos or read stories. What are the possibilities here?

Q: On your blog you call yourself a “hackademic” who believes journalists should learn to code -- will students be creating Glassware apps in your course?

Q: How will you teach the class to students who aren’t part of the Google Glass explorer program?

Q: What about other wearable platforms, such as smartwatches?
