- SSL uses public-key. the ‘730 patent described symmetric crypto

- “full names, Facebook IDs, email addresses, pictures, genders, birthdays, and even location data for where the user currently is.”
- Plain Vanilla CEO Thor Fridriksson told TC: “Due to a bug in our third-party network library this encryption could be weakened on some occasions. This issue has been addressed in an update waiting review at Apple,”

- Facebook token accessible in Plain Text
- Richter able to read text sent from user to QuizUp app intercepted with a PC tool and some readable in default iOS storage files
- “discovered a slight server error which inadvert[antly] leaked some player’s profile data to other users IF they had modified their client application in order to decrypt the communication. This was an developer’s error and has been fixed already on our servers.”
- Richter today: “Senior leadership at Plain Vanilla has been in touch with me. They seem very eager to understand and correct the issues and I truly feel they are committed to correcting the problems.”
Q: This is what landed Path in hot water. Would you use QizUp again after this?

Tom was talking about how he was using the Xbox One a lot more because of the TV enhancement features and it got me to thinking.

As a twenty seven year old dude who never watches traditional TV, I find it strange that a new console is targeting most of its new features at traditional TV watching. My generation (even more so with the teenagers today) are the Netflix/Amazon/iTunes people.

All of the best shows (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Betas, Alpha House, etc) are all streaming right away. It would seem that Xbox is backwards patching up traditional TV when they should focus on their own streaming service, or creating a more seamless streaming experience for TV and movie content.

Launching a new system to make an outdated experience like watching live TV is an odd choice that turns off a lot of younger people who Xbox normally targets. If they are targeting the older audience, why is it $500?

Great show!

--
Corey
Corey,

They aren't focusing most of their feature on tv watching. In fact tv just became an app on the screen just like Netflix or Hulu or YouTube. So in essence they're serving exactly who you're talking about but bringing along the 90 million people who do watch cable for the ride.

Tom
