An iOS app called Mailbox was so hot when it launched as an invitation-only iOS app just over a year ago that it had more than a million people on the waiting list and the company that made it was quickly acquired by Dropbox. Well yesterday, Mailbox announced its first Android version and also the beta version of a Mailbox Mac application. http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/9/5594996/inbox-hero-inside-mailboxs-master-plan-to-make-email-suck-less

.

Ellis Hamburger
Reporter, The Verge

Q: Ellis, when the Mailbox app hit the app store in February, 2013, it was astonishing to see an email app, of all things, get so much hype. Why did everyone pay attention to this app when it first hit?
Q: Are the newly announced Android and Mac versions comparable to the iPhone original?
Q: Auto-swipe feature?
Q: If Mailbox screws up, won’t you miss emails?
Q: Will snoozing emails on mobile make them come back on the Mac version?
Q: Does Mailbox require a Dropbox account?
Q: Any complaints about Mailbox?
Ellis Hamburger
Reporter, The Verge @hamburger

.

A: Also introduced a feature called Auto-swipe that predicts which messages you’re going to archive
A: Introduced great new ideas to touch-screen email:
- swipe to archive
- swipe in the other direction to delete
- easy snooze
A: Auto-swipe = part Gmail Mute, part machine-learning algorithm
