tmDon't Blink. Blink and you're sued for trademark infringement. Possibly. remember back on April 3 when Google announced it would fork WebKit to create its own browser engine called Blink? They may need a new name. Turns out on April 9th Microsoft filed a trademark application with the USPTO for the name Blink. Microsoft has a Windows Phone photo app called Blink. slBitcoin Miners Are Racking Up $150,000 A Day In Power Consumption Alonehttp://techcrunch.com/2013/04/13/the-cost-of-a-bitcoin/

.

- Bitcoin mining: find a sequence of data (called a ‘block’) that produces a specific pattern when the Bitcoin ‘hash’ algorithm is applied to the data. When a match occurs the miner gets a bounty of Bitcoins (and also a fee if that block was used to certify a transaction). The size of the bounty reduces as Bitcoins around the world are mined. Search gets more difficult computationally. These two effects combine to reduce over time the rate at which Bitcoins are produced and mimic the production rate of a commodity like gold. At some point new Bitcoins will not be produced and the only incentive for miners will be transaction fees.
- Unless the miner is using the latest specially-designed mining rigs, the computers used often sport high-end graphics cards (since the GPUs are more efficient than CPUs for mining application). And running those computers requires a lot of power. Bitcoin transactions are verified by the work of software run by other people using the currency, a process that takes on average 10 minutes and can be much longer, an hour in the case of many exchange sites.
- Blockchain.info, which tracks Bitcoin-related data, estimates that miners are using 1,005.59 megawatt hours of electrical consumption each day in their pursuit of new blocks of Bitcoins. costs about $150,000 in power costs each day. but generating $470,000 in Bitcoin-related revenue per day.
alternative cryptocurrencies: Litecoin, PPCoin, both designed to process transaction faster, use less power

slChinese iPhone dealers dupe Apple with fake componentshttp://www.pcworld.com/article/2034642/chinese-iphone-dealers-dupe-apple-with-fake-components.html

.

- Chinese criminals used Apple’s return system to turn more than 100 fake iPhones into real ones.
- December: Wenzhou Apple shop owner turned 121 iPhone 4S BAND parts (the core of the phone, worth about $476 each). says they were broken. Apple replaced them but in January discovered that the parts he submitted as broken were actually counterfeits. They reported this to the shop, which claimed innocence and reported the case to the police.
- on April 1 they arrested one of the shop’s engineers and her boyfriend, more arrests since then. so, how many of the iPhones out there are real, if scammers can make fake parts so real that it takes even Apple itself a month to notice the difference.
