iaStop me if you've heard this one - the iPhone lock screen can be bypassed because of a bug. This is actually a new bug affecting the latest version of iOS, 6.1.3. Unlike the last bypass which required a super-awesome combination of swipes and taps - to bypass 6.1.3, you'll have to eject the SIM tray while dialing a number. From there you'll have access to contacts and photos. TheNextWeb reproduced the behavior on the iPhone 4 and 4S, but not the iPhone 5. The bug was shown off on YouTube by a person going by the name of "videos de baraquito." Wait a sec. A guy using a paperclip to bypass security? More like "Videos de MacGuyver-ito."http://thenextweb.com/apple/2013/03/20/new-iphone-lock-screen-bug-affects-ios-6-1-3/

tmHP Labs is showing off a new prototype for glasses-free 3D LCD screens. The key advance is an increased viewing angle. Nanopattered groove's in the backlight send blue, green and red light in multiple directions, giving a 180-degree viewing arc. The 1/2-mm screens can send only the light seen from a given viewpoint; 200 for photos and 64 for video. The hangup could be capturing all the information needed, which could mean lots of cameras and lots of bandwidth.http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/20/hp-labs-builds-a-glasses-free-portable-3d-lcd-with-wide-viewing/VIDEO

iaA million users isn't cool. You know what's cool? A billion users. If that's the case, then YouTube is very cool. YouTube announced that it now has more than 1 billion unique visitors each month. According to YouTube's data, there was a 76% increase in smartphone traffic compared to last year at the same time. Desktop traffic increased 33%. Your Next Smartphone Screen May Be Made of Sapphirehttp://www.technologyreview.com/news/512411/your-next-smartphone-screen-may-be-made-of-sapphire/

- post on Google's AdWords Agency blog calls current generation 'Generation C', says 76% increase in smartphone traffic, year-on-year, with only a 33% increase in traffic from desktops.
- what's next for all those mobile phones - Manufactured sapphire - military-grade, don’t crack when you drop them and can’t be scratched with keys, or even by a concrete sidewalk.
- Sapphire: crystalline form of aluminum oxide. Only diamonds are harder. Gorilla Glass (made by Corning) costs less than $3, while a sapphire display would cost about $30. But that could fall below $20 in a couple of years thanks to increased competition and improving technology, says Eric Virey, an analyst for the market research firm Yole Développement.
- Apple uses it now to protect the camera on its iPhone 5
- super-thin layer of sapphire over other material the key to price drop? GT Advanced Technologies, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, is developing a method for making sapphire sheets thinner than a human hair—much thinner than the nearly millimeter-thick glass used now on mobile phones.

Hey guys. I'm an Adobe employee who spent years working on Flash and Adobe AIR. Your coverage of Kevin Lynch yesterday was good -- no complaints at all -- but I would like to add that although emotions sometimes ran high, very few people at Adobe (and nobody I knew) ever really hated Apple.

We all still used our MacBook Pros, and although several people used the opportunity to give Android a try, many of us stuck with iOS. The reality is that a lot of the passion and frustration we felt actually came from an appreciation for Apple devices.

I think it's fair to say that Apple and iOS have had a profound impact on my career. I'm now on the Web Platform team pushing web standards and building next-generation HTML, JavaScript, and CSS experiences. And although I have a ton of Android devices (several of which I really like), my phone of choice is the iPhone 5 and my tablet of choice is the iPad mini.

In other words, there are no hard feelings whatsoever.

As a former employee [of EA]. JR [John Riccitiello] was a great CEO...However, he did have miss steps during his career. Most notable being the Star Wars of the Old Republic (150 million invest), Mass Effect 3 debacle, Medal of Honor poor performance, and of course the icing on the cake... SimCity DRM poor launch.

He did push EA from standard console strategy to digital with Origin. That was his doing but that doesn't over come the huge falls he took with the afore mentioned titles.

Love you guys and have been a Twit fan since 2006...in Iraq...

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Bradd
