slPandora Sets 40 Hour Monthly Cap On Free Mobile Listeninghttp://www.forbes.com/sites/ericsavitz/2013/02/27/pandora-sets-40-hour-monthly-cap-on-free-mobile-listening/

.

- 40 hour monthly limit on free service over mobile devices.
- co says it's because of rising per-play content costs
- if you go over 40 hours, you can still listen via a PC, pay $0.99 for the rest of the month, or subscribe to Pandora One. should affect < 4% of active listeners.
note from tim westergren: "limiting listening is a very unusual thing to do, and very contrary to our mission so we wanted to share a quick explanation. Pandora’s per-track royalty rates have increased more than 25% over the last 3 years, including 9% in 2013 alone and are scheduled to increase an additional 16% over the next two years. After a close look at our overall listening, a 40-hour-per-month mobile listening limit allows us to manage these escalating costs with minimal listener disruption."

- The changes are rolling out now

Q: Does Spotify need its own separate section for social or should Facebook integration be enough? Were you using the People tab (or were you even aware of it)?

Hello TNT crew. I know I'm a little behind, but on episode 697 Tom mentioned wanting to get his native, carrier txts/sms on his tablet. I have a Nexus 10 and i received my phone txt/sms message on my tablet via the CLOUD SMS app in the Play Store. Not only receive txt, but can respond, or send txts right from the app on the tablet. Not sure if this is exactly what you were thinking of, but works great for me. No separate Google voice number or message service.

Hi TNT

I was listening to your show today about the iPhone app that could diagnose certain problems in your urine. At the end you mentioned that there was a dipstick involved. I assume that you dip the dipstick into the urine and take a photograph of the dipstick.

Being a kidney doctor, I have to ask the obvious: how does the app help? A normal dipstick already has measurements on it so can tell you levels of blood, sugar, protein, etc. and you still have to Dip the stick in the urine! If you didn't have to touch the stick then that would be an improvement.

Maybe this helps to interpret the levels on the dipsticks, which I can do, but someone without my training probably could not. Frankly it's not that difficult.

But it begs the bigger question: did I just waste four years of med school and three years of residency, when I could have just purchase this app?

Lol
