slYou know what I love most about the holidays? patent wars! Everybody's favorite judge Lucy Koh has denied an injunction request by Apple to permanently ban a number of Samsung devices. Koh doesn't deny that Samsung has violated certain patents, but Apple has failed to show that it has lost sales to Samsung specifically because of these patent violations. Judge Koh also denied a Samsung a new trial due to alleged jury misconduct. In Europe, Samsung has also withdrawn its requests to ban Apple products in Germany, the U.K., France, Italy and the Netherlands, according to the Verge, which got a statement from the company. Though Samsung has confirmed that it's still pursuing compensation.. http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/17/judge-denies-apple-permanent-samsung-ban/PATENT WARS

tmOne overriding principle in the world of tech is that a wired connection will always be faster and more reliable than wireless. But DARPA wants to change that. The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has launched a program to create an airborne network with 100 gigabit per second bandwidth. The 100 Gigabit-per-second RF Backbone (or 100G) aims to be deployed both on the battlefield and aboard aircraft—and work at distances of over 200 kilometers.http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/12/darpa-looks-to-create-wireless-skynet-with-fiber-like-100gb-bandwidth/

Hey TNT Crew,
I listened to your show on the 17th and wanted to throw my two cents in about your discussion about Snapchat. I am a 13 year old guy, and me and my friends use and really like Snapchat because you can really be crazy, because you know that no one will ever see the photo again. I can make a weird, ugly face and my friend will laugh, but that won't ever be on Facebook or sent to anyone else.
Thanks, love the show!

I knew from listening to your show over the last few months that Google was becoming stingier with access to their Maps API, but was astounded to notice on the MotoACTV website, that is owned by Motorola, the attached message. It says that Motorola is an unauthorized user of the Google Maps API.

I hope you and your listeners find this as interesting as I did.
