Hey guys, love the show. My podcast player is more like a TWiT.tv player. Keep up the excellent tech news delivery.

One thing you guys didn't talk about in Episode 763 is that Blekko is considered malicious software by the IT Industry.

They do embedded toolbar installation, just like Ask.com, Gator, Babylon, countless others and is really difficult to actually remove.

It's malware.

"Spam and Virus Free Search", except of course for their own spam.

For sake of reference, I'm a Network Administrator for a high tech company and have spent endless hours, both on the job and on the side for friends, removing malware over the years.

--
Thanks,

Mike
Neither are malware at all. Neither F-Secure nor McAfee list Blekko in their threat databases. There was a spate of third-party software earlier this year (inlcuding, hilariously ADAware and registry cleaner) that took advantage of Blekko's referral program to change people's default search to Blekko and do some redirects. A lot of people who complained downlaoded their software from CNET. Apparently a lot of people got confused about where it was coming from because they weren't alerted during install. Some folks had a hard time uninstalling it. There was a lot of FUD. At worst Blekko was aiding and abetting malware. Certainly Blekko was using some crappy methods of egtting its name out there - tm
