iaWhat's black and white and flat all over? No, not a cardboard penguin. According to 9to5 Mac, iOS 7 will employ a stark color palate for its user interface elements. As widely rumored, heavy textures would get the boot. 9to5Mac got pretty specific as well - saying that the lock screen will get redesigned. The transparent shiny layer under the clock will be replaced by flat-black and the square-grid for entering a pin would be replaced by round buttons. The home screen would be replaced by a search bar that uses AltaVista to search your phone. Okay, I made that last part up.http://9to5mac.com/2013/05/24/jony-ives-new-look-for-ios-7-black-white-and-flat-all-over/

slJony Ive’s new look for iOS 7: black, white, and flat all overhttp://9to5mac.com/2013/05/24/jony-ives-new-look-for-ios-7-black-white-and-flat-all-over/

.

- sources are talking: Apple Senior Vice President of Industrial Design Jony Ive overhauling iOS 7's look and feel, rather than features
- black, white, and flat all over: over the past few months, Apple has re-architected iOS 7′s new interface several times, down to the WWDC wire
- sources say in design meetings Ive explains why he hates skeumorphism: software designs filled with physical metaphors do not stand the test of time. with iOS’s current applications have several differing designs, Apple’s users could become confused (yellow notepad-inspired Notes app, silver-textured Maps, blue and white Mail, green felt Game Center)
- Apple will drop the shiny, transparent time bar on the top of the Lock screen in exchange for a shine-free, black interface. Additionally, the square-grid for entering a pin code has been replaced with round, black buttons with white text and white borders. Additionally, sources say that notifications on the Lock screen may see improved manipulability with gestures.
- In iOS 7, according to people familiar with the software, notification design becomes a dark grey/black color with white text.
- panorama-like wallpapers (images that pan as Home screens are swiped) are also present. This feature makes sense in light of Apple adding panorama photography capabilities to some iOS 6 devices last year. Panorama wallpapers have existed in Google’s Android OS for several years.

Hi Exploding TNT Crew,

On the XBox One coverage: here in Germany where I live a story is circulating again about the Microsoft patent for movie rentals that would selling multiple tickets for the movie based on the number of people sitting in front of the Kinect camera. Given the new capabilities of the new Kinect that certainly sounds technically doable.

I don't know about you, but if there were even a remote possibility of this ever becoming reality I would never even consider getting an XBox - or any product from Microsoft for that matter.

How do you feel about this? Would it be fair or gouging? I can see the logic but I really really hate it on so many levels I don't even know where to start.

Greetings from sunny Deutschland (not really, the weather sucks here too).

Tim Green
