tmTwitter launched a rather limited version of two-factor authentication to secure login to your account. The service will text a code to a phone number that has been associated with a twitter account. Got multiple accounts? Too bad. A phone number can only be associated with one account. And if you don't have your phone on you, there's no other method to get the code. Apps like Tweetdeck will have to authorized individually on Twitter's application page with temporary passwords. There is no way to create application-specific passwords either.http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/05/twitter-launches-two-factor-authentication-too-late-to-save-the-onion/

iaOver on Twitter, Kim Dotcom is accusing Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Citibank of patent infringement involving two-step authentication. Dotcom said he didn't sue the companies, but might now because of what the U.S. did to him. Dotcom's patent shows a method of authenticating using a secondary code sent via SMS or pager and was filed back in 1998. Ars Technica reports AT&T has a US patent for two-factor systems pre-dating Dotcom's and the Guardian pointed out that Ericsson and Nokia also have patent filings predating Dotcom's.http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/05/kim-dotcom-claims-he-invented-two-factor-authentication-but-he-wasnt-first/

Hello crew,

Listening to show 759 about Google working on the voice search. I am a 40 something guy that is very used to typing search terms into my search bar.

I have an 11yr old daughter to whom we've given a Chromebook. She immediately took to the ability to hit the microphone button and speak her searches.

So, I think we're again looking at a technology aimed at the next generation of internet device users, and not aimed at those of us that are very keyboard centric in our interfacing with these devices.

thanks!

Mike

TONX COFFEE

Background:

Tonx is a small company made up of a tight knit team of experts who believe that everyone deserves a great cup of coffee, and everyone can brew a great cup right in their kitchen – if they have the right beans [and it starts with quality, fresh-roasted beans]. Tonx sources their beans directly from the growers, roasts them, and ships within 24hrs of roasting for the freshest beans you can find.

Talking Points (Please use different aspects of Tonx’s value prop):

Really good coffee (Tonx’s twitter feed is a testament that this is extraordinary coffee).

Shipped within 24 hrs of roasting.

Home-brewed coffee can be just as good as your favorite café. It's not as hard as baristas make it out to be - but it all starts with fresh beans, which you can't get if you buy bags of beans from grocery stores. Pre-ground coffee is even worse. Great coffee actually has very little to do with fancy gadgets and expensive gizmos.

Convenient – Tonx is a bi-weekly subscription which sends the best beans on earth directly to your door, for the price of a few café visits

If you’re hitting a café most mornings, this is a much better (and more economical) way to get great coffee.

Tonx offers plenty of help on best brewing methods and equipment.

Tonx sources directly from the growers. Because of their extensive relationships – they can follow the tilt of the earth and select the best beans when they are at their peak.

Tonx coffee also makes a fantastic gift. If you’re looking for something for that hard-to-buy-for person – why not get them a great cup of coffee every morning – so much more meaningful than a gift card.

[Tonx cares about the experience of its customers and is available to help with any brewing questions and ready to offer tips and advice.
