slDisqus hits 100 million profiles, helps publishers sync and leverage user data with new toolhttp://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/05/13/disqus-launches-audiencesync/

.

- Disqus launched new publisher tool called AudienceSync. publishers can sync Disqus’s profile data with their own users’ information, in order to grow their audience.
- Disqus announced that it has over 100M profiles and is growing at a rate of 1.5 million new users/month.
- AudienceSync is geared towards helping both Disqus users and publishers. The company says that Disqus users are looking for a way to participate in additional discussions across the Web using a single log-in ID — Disqus is the preferred option by users by an “overwhelming majority”, according to the company, to log into the commenting service.
how it works: AudienceSync is different from Disqus’s Single Sign-On protocol. The company says that Single Sign-On works with users who already have a separate ID on the website, functioning in the opposite manner that AudienceSync does. So if John Doe was a member of company XYZ, it would create a Disqus profile for him.

Hello Tom and Tnt crew

Last episode you were talking about removing the plans for printing the Liberator gun from the web. The consensus is that once something is on the web and there are several copies of it, it cannot "be removed from the web".

I would agree with you if it wasn't for a recent experience. When I learned that the bestseller "Shades of Gray" originated as a fanfic for Twilight, I got curious and decided to look it up.

It has been removed from the blog where Stefanie Mayer posted it originally, but that was to be expected. But I could not find it anywhere, at least not with my "amateur" research skills.

It has even been removed from the "way back machine", that immense reservoir of erased internet pages.

So, in conclusion: with enough determination and resources it is possible, if not to completely erase it from the face of the earth, to make it very very difficult for a normal person, with normal research capabilities, to find the files in the web.

Of course, it may survive in backups, and be copied from one computer to another, but that's another story!

Keep doing the best tech podcast,
Big hug

Claudia from Brazil
