iaWiretapping laws are being circumvented thanks to secret deals between the U.S. Department of Justice and service providers like AT&T. The Electronic Privacy Information Center published internal government documents that show that these service providers are receiving immunity so the U.S. government can conduct surveillance on their networks. tmUbuntu 13.04 aka Raring Ringtail came out today on schedule. While many expected features have been pushed to the next release in October, reviews are largely favorable. Smart Scopes and its attendant privacy settings did not make it into the release. The Photo Lens did make it in providing search across photos in Shotwell, Flickr, Facebook and Google. The Ubuntu music store also moved out of the music player Rhythmbox and into the sidebar. The update also seems a bit snappier.http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/24/ubuntu-13-04-raring-ringtail-available/

.

- LinkedIN revamping Contacts to "smart contact management system" that will let users link up and integrate connections on LinkedIn with those from Google, Yahoo and Microsoft apps; Evernote; TripIt; your iPhone and more, and then serve as a “personal assistant” to help manage your interactions
- contacts app for iPhone. Contacts will come in stages: first to a limited number of users in the U.S., then to the rest of the country, and then to the rest of LinkedIn’s user base worldwide.
- LinkedIn’s October 2011 acquisition of Connected, the smart contacts management platform it bought to “revolutionize contact management” on LinkedIn. Sachin Rekhi, the product lead for Contacts, was one of the co-founders of Connected.
- Gmail, Google Contacts, Google Calendar; Google Apps Mail, Contacts, Calendar; Yahoo! Mail, Contacts, Calendar; Outlook Mail, Contacts, Calendar; iPhone Address Book (via the LinkedIn Contacts app); LinkedIn’s CardMunch service; Evernote and TripIt. Outlook Contacts CSV, Mac Address Book vCard and Yahoo! Contacts CSV are all supported as one-off contact imports.
- Gmail, for example, creates a contact out of everyone who has emailed you, but you may not actually want all those people in your larger Contacts network. Rekhi points out that even if they are imported, LinkedIn sorts “intelligently” and will pick up if you’re not actually interacting with people on a regular basis and subsequently rank them lower in non-alphabetical list views.

Good Day TNT crew,

Was thinking about your show Ep 738 when you talked about the Kinect getting a pizza hut app. That's all well and good but its not the first time pizza was integrated like that into gamming. I remember Everquest 2 getting a command, /pizza, that would bring up the a way to order pizza hut pizza in the game. That was 2005. Like Tom said, pizza delivery is on the front lines of the bleeding edge.
