Just a thought on this story. Maybe it's a very creative/Machiavellian PR campaign. You want to grab a couple of good headlines on tech sites so you don't announce the switch to US assembly, confident that some tech site will "discover" it and enjoy the pr bounce as the story gains traction. If you simply announced the change, the Apple haters would harp about what a low percentage of units were actually affected or snark about how this was just a PR move. This way you can bask in the good PR while neutering the haters. - Allen

Some smart watches are great to have.
I have the Motorola Motoactv and although it checks and updates my twitter and facebook and gives me the weather, I like it for other reasons.

Mainly because it has an FM tuner, It connects via bluetooth to my android phone and to bluetooth headphones like my Motorola Motorokr s9 and I can answer calls from my wired or bluetooth headphones that are connected to my watch. So, if my phone rings, my watch tells me who is calling and I can answer or reject directly from my watch. Also it has GPS which tracks my bike rides or walks (it would track my runs if I were a runner too) without the need for a secondary device. I can leave my phone at home if I want to. It also has wifi and it connects to the Motoactv site and updates it as soon as it connects to my home network. The site updates the app on my phone. It has 8gb of music and it helps me track my workouts at the gym. It also works as a golf caddy via GPS.

Yes... A little big for small wrists... But it also comes with a clip and there is an arm band available for it. And if you are a serious runner or biker, you can hook up a heart monitor to it wirelessly as well as a pace keeper for your bike.

It's a pretty powerful little device with a great full color touch screen (not retina by any means... but it's a watch).

The only thing I wish it had on top of that is the ability to run some basic aps and stream content from my phone such as pandora etc.

That's why I love smart watches...
