iaWSJ: Google working on an Android-powered game system, smart watch and new Nexus Qhttp://www.engadget.com/2013/06/27/wsj-google-android-game-console/

.

- The WSJ reports that Google is building a game console and wristwatch, both powered by Android
- The Journal's sources say Google is making these devices to "combat similar devices that Apple Inc. may release in the future." (yup, apparently Google thinks Apple is building a game console in the next Apple TV and a watch)
- The watch would connect to your phone via BT
- There's even a new version of the Nexus Q - that ill fated media/tv sphere
- At least one of these devices will launch in the fall
- W/Android Key Lime Pie (upcoming release), Google is letting manufacturers greater freedom to use Android in devices other than smartphones and tablets

Q: A Google game console? What are they, Microsoft? First Google TV (webTV), a browser, and now maybe a console?

slLeaked Details Of Facebook’s New Chat Rooms Featurehttp://techcrunch.com/2013/06/27/facebook-chat-rooms/

.

- Facebook confirms to TC it's testing “Host Chat”. Like traditional IRC, it could get Facebook users to stay on FB longer
- FB: “we do test things from time to time with a small percentage of users.” These tests can be a small as a fraction of a percent of all users, and are sometimes isolated to particular countries
- competes with SMS, Apple’s iMessage, and now Google’s new unified messaging system Hangouts. Meanwhile, it’s battling independent international players like WhatsApp, sticker-focused products like Japan’s Line, and novel communication forms like Snapchat.
- option to “Host Chat” in the Facebook home page’s status update composer. Currently users see buttons for “Update Status”, and “Add Photos/Video”. The “Host Chat” button would be a third option there.
- any of the host’s friends can join without being invited. They see a story in their news feed that a friend is hosting a chat room and they’re given the option to jump in. This works similar to the chat feature within Facebook Groups, where anyone in the Group can join a discussion.

slU.S. feds make their first-ever Bitcoin seizurehttp://io9.com/u-s-feds-make-their-first-ever-bitcoin-seizure-607748728

.

-federal Drug Enforcement Agency announced that it had seized 11.02 bitcons (~USD$814.22) from South Carolina's Eric Daniel Hughes, who was trying to buy illegal substances with the digital currency. It's the first time this has ever happened
- if government doesn't print or regulate Bitcoin, how can they still seize it?
- Let's Talk Bitcoin blog says: a DEA agent could have used a computer with an unencrypted wallet and transferred the amt to a DEA controlled wallet. Or the DEA could have set up a "honeypot" trap at the popular Silk Road "anonymous marketplace", where Bitcoin is regularly used to purchase illegal items through this back channel. Hughes could have unknowingly transferred the Bitcoins directly to the DEA.

On yesterday's show you were talking about the ability to comment on a social stream about an event that's already happened. Your examples were The Tony Awards and things on TV.

Isn't this GetGlue? I try to avoid Twitter during big events because I don't care about something I haven't watched yet but still plan to. But GetGlue is focused on event viewing or listening, and I'm always amazed how many people are watching exactly what I'm watching and still talking about days—or sometimes even months—later. Of course there are occasionally spoilers in the GetGlue stream, but you deal with that on Twitter, too.
