THE CRAAP TEST!
Is it CRAAP-CERTIFIED or simply crap? Use the CRAAP test if you want to use information from a website that has not been vetted by your librarian or  teacher. Check the boxes beside the criteria and remember to keep track of the points!

Is the information up to date?
When was it posted? *
When was it last revised? *
Are links functional and up-to-date? *
Relevance
How useful is the information to you?
Does the site provide the information you need? *
Can you verify the information in another source (for example, a general encyclopedia)? *
Is the information intended for high school students? *
AUTHORITY
Who wrote it and why?
Who is the author/creator/sponsor? Are their credentials listed? *
Credentials=university degree in the topic, clearly stated reason for starting the website,vouched for by other reliable institutions.
Is there contact information, such as an e-mail address? A physical address? Phone number? *
If the author is affiliated with an organization, what kind is it? *
What does the domain name/URL reveal about the source of the information, if anything? Example: .com .edu .gov .org *
Note: this is a good guideline, but not always the case. You can still find good information on .com sites. The problem is that it is more likely to be a commercial site with an agenda.
Accuracy
Is the information correct?
Where does the information come from?  Are the original sources of information listed?   *
Does the language or tone seem biased?   *
Are there spelling, grammar, or other typos? *
Purpose
Why does the website exist?
Is advertising content vs. informational content easily distinguishable? *
Is the purpose of the page stated? *
Are editorials clearly labeled? *
Total points *
SCORING
30-32 Excellent
25-29 Good
20-24 Average
15-19 Borderline Acceptable
Below 15 - Unacceptable
